Dinner in Highland Fall, NY

Odd request, I know.

In May my Father has his 60th West Point reunion, which is hard by Highland Falls.

He has been charged by the other fellows in his old West Point Company, E-1 ( the Big Easy) to plan a dinner for the remaining men.

I went to his 50th and there was perhaps 60/70 people total. There will be less this year.

Help me out, Brothers. The interwebs only help so much when viewing restaurants.

I've asked him how far from West Point they may be willing to travel. No word yet.

If I recall correctly Highland Falls is not a particularly high end location for food and lodging. I have a friend who is a West Point grad and was also assigned there in recent years and I will check with him. It may take a few days as I am headed to San Juan, PR and my friend is traveling as well. Let me see what I can come up with.

No worries. We have time.

I appreciate the help. The last dinner, ten years ago, was not particularly high end:)

Thanks again. This will probably be his last...hope not. These are really good dudes. I'll scan in some pictures.

My son is a plebe at West Point. We ate in Newburgh, not far from there, at a waterfront floating seafood restaurant. It was good and not expensive. Nice atmosphere too.

Do you remember the name?

And well done on the Plebe...you must be very proud.

If they want a 40 minute drive from West Point go to Aroma Osteria in Wappingers Falls. 15 minutes closer than the culinary. Off the chart italian food. Had out of town guests from all over the country love it there. Theres a steak house in cold spring on the river called the Hudson House that is a great place also. Best 2 resturants in the Hudson Valley. just my humble opinion.

Gullys as mentioned earlier is a bar, mostly summer. I am not sure its open now. Theres a good seafood resturant called Blue Martini that is on the same strip as gullys that is a more consistant good eat.
