Funny, I worked a few jobs to pay for my education, and now clowns take out loans, major in things that there are no jobs (and with good reason) that pay anything, then cry about paying back the loans (which many abuse and didn't use for school, but partying..

Yea, if these Dumb-Asses would put as much effort in improving employment skills, learning how to properly dress, speak & develop a decent work ethic, the might find a job.

Course none of those losers will be able to find a job if anyone knows that they are pushing to seize the money the business owners worked for, I know if one came up to one of our business's, they would be tossed out on their asses..

But facts often say otherwise -- engineering majors are not doing well at all right now.

And who would have predicted that a major in graphic arts would be a pathway to a high paying job 20 years ago? Yet web designers are in high demand.

Randy, one fact remains the same, vocational jobs (trades) are still needed and those courses are being dropped from High Schools (talked to a guy yesterday who use to teach Auto-body, now he teaches Detention).. You are correct on web guys, who would have thought..

Byron - did you read the thread here in OT that Zeke started - artisans something or other maybe in the title?

He goes on about poor job prospects in the trades...

I hate them dropping those course from the local comm. college as I used to have a great wood shop available for $75 a term... I also got gigged when I tried to take a welding class as a grad. student, and then got in a few machinists classes (not only did I learn some stuff, I hotrodded my VW Bus) before they made those more "professional." None are left now.

Are we a bunch old farts that are just b*&thing about how bad things are with the crafts. Many of us want to bring it back as part of our educational system. But how? We see the writing on the wall, and decision makers are doing just the opposite.

Yes, them liberal arts majors. They usually have the answer to the world's problems don't they? As an old shop teacher and business owner, I had to listen to their crap sometimes.
