spray on clearcoat
anyone here in the brain trust know of a product that can be sprayed from an aerosol that is halfway decent and not going to break the bank? will go an a race car bumper that is only rattle canned, but to a high standard rattle can that matches the body paint surprisingly well;). understandably it takes a ton of abuse. what have you guys used, or suggest i dont use? figure $30-40 investment
"high end rattle can" example... :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1327797318.jpg |
Wheel paint clear coat by Duplicolor. Any local parts store will have it. It's durable and meant to take road abuse.

Stuff you buy at auto parts stores is way inferior to this.....
Spray Paint Clearcoat | Aerosol Touch Up | AutomotiveTouchup | 888-710-5192 Best I've ever found! |
Rustoleum makes a clear lacquer.
I would try a can and test it out. KT |
The best option is probably going to be one of the few 2k (2-part) variants available in a rattle can.
R-M (BASF) has one called "Aero Max" 2k. The only other one I know of is called "Spray Max" 2K. Note, these 2-part aerosol clears are not cheap. Second choice would probably be U-POL (Clear #1) witch is a 1k (1-part) clear, but good quality. Also, on the lower black section, you might want to go with something like SEM Chip Guard (especially since it's a track car). It comes in a rattle can, either black or clear. SmileWavy |
wow! this thread warranted a 5 star rating? BOOM!
Eric, i did the lower area in the shot above with the "hammer' finish type paint to hide some of my fiberglass repair work previous and the stuff flaked off dam near. went with a regular spray semi glass this time around. already had that done before your suggestions. thanks for the suggestions. after reading up on the product R K T suggests i went that route. the additional gloss the product will provide seems like the berries in that other than the rock chips the worst part of the rattle can finish was some inconsistencies in finish gloss. i know that a good single stage automotive paint would solve all my issues, but there is more time than money here in the garages of grocery cart motorsports:D |

I think you'll be impressed. I used it on the front of my Tacoma when I painted the grill Red......
