What to do with old iPhone

I just got a 4GS to replace my 3GS.What can the 3GS be used for now, a door stop? Will it still be able to function as a iPod, game console, and handy projectile?

Donate it to someone. SloDave gave me his old 3G and it is doing duty as an Ipod since AT&T blows in my neck of the woods.

Ebay. You'd be surprised what they're worth.

+1

You can probably recoup the majority of the money you spent on the new one.

We let our kids use our old ones. My daughter uses it as an iPod, plays games, etc. My son watches videos, etc., when he gets bored at restaurants. You can still sync them and update apps, add songs, videos, etc., so it's like having an iPod touch without the internet connection.

We did the same. But they Do have wifi connectivity. Just no phone.

Thanx. This will solve a problem I've had. I like to sit and listen to music or NPR and play games, but I couldn't do both at the same time on the 3G. With both, I can play with one and stream with the other. Great!

A 3GS is better than the phones we have. You could easily get $100 for it.

$200 to $300 on Aus eBay... That's for a good phone not locked to any network.

i used my old iphone as music player and wifi hookup to listen to streaming radio programs which is why i always try to by the biggest model i can afford..cant have enough players around the house in various rooms, car etc...

I use my old 1st gen iPhone with my wifi at home to stram Pandora. I have some powered speakers and it works great in the garage as a music source.

I searched Craigs List to see what mine would be worth, found an ad for a local guy buying them.

He said he collects them, sells, trades etc, the new baseball cards.

Got enough for my 3G to buy a new 4, and take my wife to dinner.

My daughter has my 3GS, she uses it for games. I can understand why they have resale value. I miss the smooth shape, and the battery life is better than my 4G.

+1 Did this and what they were going for surprised me, ended up selling to wife's co-worker $150.00 each new phones were almost a wash.

gr8fl4porsche 02-21-2012 01:20 PM

My daughter uses my 3GS as well.

With wifi:

Setup a Google Voice number and with Talkaphone App you can use the phone for free.

Email and texting are also available for free.

Return to Apple for gift certificates to their store/App Store/iTunes

Skeet practice?

slodave 02-21-2012 02:24 PM

I still like the donating to a friend idea. I will probably send my 4 to Rick if he wants it when I upgrade.

Check out Gazelle.

I have been doing a lot of research into audio/video systems... it might make a nice remote control.
