New York Nightclub Brawl Sends Monaco Prince to the Hospital

Brawl Sends Monaco Prince to the Hospital (Frederic Nebinger/Getty Images)A brawl at a Manhattan nightclub over the weekend ended with Monaco's Prince Pierre Casiraghi in the hospital and a New York man facing assault charges.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday at the Double Seven Nightclub, when according to police 24-year-old Casiraghi, the grandson of Grace Kelly, got into a confrontation with 47-year-old Adam Hock, a former nightclub owner.

Casiraghi reportedly approached Hock, leading to a physical confrontation. Hock, who according to the New York Post was sitting with friends including supermodels Natasha Poly, Valentina Zalyaeva and Anja Rubik, allegedly punched Casigraghi and three friends who came to his aid.

"Pierre's face looked broken, with deep cuts and blood everywhere," a witness told the New York Post. "He looked like he needed plastic surgery."

Hock was arrested and charged with four counts of third-degree assault.

Hock's lawyer, Sal Strazzullo, said his client acted in self defense and was trying to protect the people he was sitting with.

"The complaint speaks for itself, when it comes to four men allegedly saying that my client was the attacker," Strazzullo told ABCNews.com. "It was four men against one."

Out of sheer curiosity and due to a slow news day, to help me get my inside story fix, if anyone has details on why only Mr. Hock was arrested, please do share!

There is no way to know from that story WTF actually happened. Mr. 47 year old might a large, tough and violent character and the 4 young guys might be little fairies. The young guy may have done nothing to instigate the attack. Or not. You cannot tell from that story.

Whenever someone assaults someone in a nightclub, or elsewhere, they claim that they were "acting in self-defense, blah, blah, blah..."

4 against 1 means nothing unless at least one of the 4 is tougher than the 1. Doesn't matter if it's 10 to 1. I'd rather fight 10 soft keyboard jockeys than one guy who can beat my ass any day.

Reading between the lines on this one, I'm seeing a very lop-sided physical altercation. A beating. And 4 weak non-fighter types being beaten. Did they have it coming? Impossible to know from story.

The ass-cleaning that guy is going to get in civil court will hurt more than any beating. And he'll get a beating as well unless he's seriously connected. They have the $$ to make that happen. This is in NY, folks.

I don't remember the girl scout scene

When my then almost 70 year old father (Korea/Vietnam Vet) beat up a 30 year old body builder who took a swing at him and got arrested I asked him, "if it was self defense then why did they arrest you?"

He responded, "well when the cops showed up I was still standing and he was unconscious in a pool of his own blood"

Mother would not be pleased.

I was right, though. The guy who took the beating looks weaker than a newborn kitten. You don't beat the life out of someone like that, you simply pick them up by the neck and throw them out in the street. Then go back to the table full of young trim.

You can imagine the conversation. Prince walks in and says to the girls "Hi Girls, I'm a real live prince and you can sit on my lap instead to talking to this lower class nobody". 47 year old says "Yeah, well you you more like a queen than a prince, now f-off back to your day care center." Prince "I say, no one talks to me like that you scoundrel." and takes a pathetic swing at him. 47 year od says "Welcome to NYC" and slams him one.
