The other jousting show, Knights of Mayhem, is better, from what I've seen of FMJ.

I think that any sport, that has penalty for injuring the horse in it's rules, is a sport that recognizes it's not a horse friendly sport. As such it should not be called a sport but potential for animal abuse.

Note, i also loathe steeplechase racing, military style jumping or most if not all kinds of horse racing... when the human goes balls out for the win, ultimately the horse pays the price.

Besides, jousting, it's just one big pissing contest really. They could easily do it with frigging Harleys instead.

Good point and never considered that. The horses on the program look very well taken care of and exercised in short spurts unlike thorougbred track racers.

sure they look taken care off, but at any point the opponent might have a mishap and the horse would pay the price.... the opponent would pay 10 penalty points.

Is it a high likelihood of happening? dunno, probably not.
Just like it's not a high likelihood of a horse ending up euthanized at the race track if you look at it as a statistic...
But the more they do it, statistically at some point it will happen.

Personally i don't think it's worth it. That's enough to ruin any potential entertainment value. That's how much i value horses.

And i don't own a horse for the same reason , i don't have the room at home, i don't want to buy one then park it in a stable, and visit maybe once a week... That wouldn't be right towards the horse, so i don't.

If those guys want to joust, they can easily rig it up with Harleys , per haps trikes for stability.
That way they only bash their own heads in.

Iron Horse Jousting... now that would be entertainment!

Toss in some spiked ball and chains while at it.

put 'em in one of those seats mounted on a car fender (as seen in the old Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom). Put out some bumps and the "penalty" for falling off is being run over by your driver. That would be a sport...it has consequences for losing.

I've watched the first three episodes and it's growing on me. As far as the show turning into a pissing contest isn't that all reality shows?
