Hmmmm, seems to work better than feathers and wax.

Jim Richards 03-22-2012 02:46 PM

Knock yourself out, Icarus. ;)

Incredible strength and stamina. That won't work for many but how cool that he did it.

"Fu....ah" is right.

I'm not qualified to do the math, but the forces required to lift a 150lbs man off the ground are much greater than human chest muscles can provide.

Brando 03-22-2012 03:47 PM

That's pretty B-A!

Great way to build up stamina/endurance and get to work.

No doubt... Furthermore, who in their right mind would fly the damn thing a hundred feet in the air on the maiden flight. "Ooops, this thing is trickier to fly than I thought... AAAAAAHHH... SPLAT!" (followed by the GoPro footage being posted on some Darwin Award website)

Brando 03-22-2012 04:54 PM

Its lacking the next important control... the stabilization and control provided by tail feathers

pavulon 03-22-2012 06:02 PM

I don't think a human could flap to flight if one butt muscle was chest muscle and legs were arms...maybe if a fella cut off his legs on top of the above...maybe.

cstreit 03-22-2012 06:54 PM

Well damn. I thought I saw some sort of assist on the top. Well I want them anyway. :-)

Based on my rough calculations, that man had the same average air speed velocity of a laden swallow.

What do you mean? African or European swallow?

Uh? I don't know that.

HardDrive 03-22-2012 07:58 PM

Unladen vs. laden is quite a different calculation, especially if laden with a large, round object below. Changes the entire airflow.

Aurel 03-22-2012 08:20 PM

Twas a fake, but that one is real:
