Dirty Tables at Fast Food Restaurants

I hate dirty tables at fast food or cafeteria style restaurants. I think that 90% of the time, us consumers can solve this problem by NOT clearing the table when we leave. My theory is that when we clear the table whenwe leave, the lazy staff never wipe the tables down. If we leave our trash behind on the table, it forces the pimply nosed high school drop outs to clear the trash and give the table a wipe.

Your thoughts?

Well I agree with you. Being married to a retired dietician keeps me out of those kind of places plus I have to watch my cholesterol. The fast food, risk of bacteria, badly behaved kids, watching people eat what they should not be eating, and their eating too much makes me want healthier food. After a 15 mile hike in the mountains, then I can justify MacD's but usually have it to go....

Yes please do you inconsiderate prick.... That way when I walk into a busy restaurant, and the only table available is covered in your trash, not only do I need to wipe it off, I have to clear your trash too... Seriously, clean up after yourself.

If the place is really busy, I don't get too excited about it. I know its hell in one of those places and you can't always keep up. If the place is slow and every table is dirty, I chalk it up to poor management/ lazy employees...

I agree. Eat there and accept the fact or simply give it a good wipe down yourself. its only food. Drive down the street and pay twice or three times as much and you will have a clean table. don't forget tip.

I don't think wiping down the tables is going to make them any better. I keep my food on the tray or at least in the wrapper. I could eat off the top of the trash can and it wouldn't bother me. I agree with the statement in the other thread about placing your utensils on the bare table. That's an old fashioned thing to do when first of all they had table cloths and you placed the napkin in your lap as you sat down.

Milt, when we were in Europe, they always place the bread right on the table. I was a bit uneasy about that. I like my dinner roll on a plate or a napkin or cloth of some type. Heck, we ate them anyway.

I was at a coffee shop (national chain) with some co-workers around 6-7 years ago having a coffee. The table next to us was covered with cups and napkins. The staff worker who was older than us came over to clean the table.
All of a sudden she starts screaming I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE LEFT THIS HERE. What she found under the napkins was a condom. She just stormed off and that was it.
From that day when we meet for coffee all we say is We'll meet at the condom shack.
