Classic 1983 944 Porsche - Vintage Vehicle

btw, he won't just sell to anybody.

porsche4life 03-31-2012 06:37 PM

Only off by about 15k....

Brando 03-31-2012 06:38 PM

He typo'd an extra zero at the end.

Salvage title early... I think no.

Also, 83 is vintage now?

Embraer 03-31-2012 06:40 PM

i thought he typo'd an extra zero...but at the end of his ad, it very distinctly says $17,500.00

haha

GH85Carrera 03-31-2012 07:06 PM

Price could be fair. Is it well setup?

porsche4life 03-31-2012 07:37 PM

The 7k one is a little high, but not insane like the OP....

Contact John

Sorry John, but I don't think I or anyone else cares that much.

With my first 944S, I quickly determined that it was going to cost me around $20,000 to bring it from a $4,000 car to a $7,000 car. This guy has taken care of his car, but it isn't worth that much.

Now, a legitimately race-prepped base 944 could possibly be bought turnkey for that much (and the owner would have had to have sunk at least twice that much into it), and most race cars of that vintage do have salvage titles, but that isn't a race car.

That means there are some OLD vacuum lines running around in there. Likewise for the rubber center on the clutch.

I'm curious what they recovered the dash with. The lines in the texture look a lot deeper than the original material, from what I can remember.

Perhaps John's wife told him to "list that damn Porsche for sale, I'm tired of you always working on it". John may be a very wise man. "Honey, I have no idea why it's not selling......"

Christien 04-01-2012 05:12 AM

One less zero. That's exactly what I sold my 83 944 for.

recycled sixtie 04-01-2012 07:12 AM

I have said to myself that I must like the seller before I can consider buying off him. This guy is seriously whacky with his choice of words and extra $0000s. However there is a sucker born every day!

It looks like the plastic snap in cover I had on my 944 dash. If you didn't know it wasn't part of the car, you wouldn't think anything of it. It was a decent way to cover up the dash cracks.

My 944 was also as "original" and as in good shape as that one with 56k on it, I got no where near that! What did I do wrong?

GT944 04-01-2012 03:41 PM

95% original.... with a 944 85/2 steering wheel! That's a new one on me. Not a bad choice though - I hate the 85/1 steering wheel

nynor 04-01-2012 07:31 PM

wrong steering wheel.

Embraer 04-01-2012 08:49 PM

here's an ad put up by concerned neighbors.....ha!

Please Buy This Piece of Crap Porsche 944

That's nothing. A friend has a V8 PORSCHE. Yup a Porsche with a V8 in it. Man, that must be worth mega bucks.

A 928? Still $1750 unless it is a low-miles GT.
