Best Steak in Vegas?
I will be working another convention next week. NAB. Broadcasters. A pretty dry bunch overall. Since we are in 'financially conservative times' we go cheap for rooms at this show & stay at the Riv for $59 per night per room. And we never hit the bars in the casinos. We use my bar room which is always well stocked for shows. :D We usually buy some good wine & have at least one pizza night - which is usually the cheapest & most fun night we have in Vegas - but I am a jaded 30 year Vegas show veteran.
Anyways, our treat to ourselves is a few good steak nights. No Tabs, we don't do buffets. After spending 8+ hours on our feet & with no lunch . . . we don't want to line up at a trough for food. Charlie Palmer's has worn a bit thin & we have Stack booked for Wednesday but we need a Monday feed. We have done the Circus, TJs, Binions, Delmonico, Mortons, Ruth's, that other one downtown . . . We need amazing beef & a decent (but not obscene) wine list with some good French wines on it (we ARE representing a French company after all & that's the usual language at the table ). And strip accessible . . . not out in the foothills or Henderson. Any suggestions? Carnevino? SW Steak in Wynn? ??? Ian |
I was impressed with N9ne Steakhouse at the Palms.
|
Oscar's downtown is getting good reviews (owned by former major Oscar Goodman)
Carnevino at the Palazzo is probably one of the best ones, Charlie Palmer at the Four Seasons is not far behind. |
S W at the Wynn

Craft Steak at the MGM and Vic and Anthonys in the Golden Nugget! Both are really good. Craft Steak is a little more pricey
|
Yeah, we have done Vic & Anthony's as well. Good steak, Old school but kind of cramped if I remember correctly. We stayed at the Nugget for 3 - 4 years in one spell.
Thanks. Keep them coming. Ian |

Whatever you do, stay out of Fleur in the Mandalay Bay. All show, no go.
I have simple tastes but I enjoyed our meal at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris. I think I had the filet merlot, last time. |
Used to be a 1950's era steakhouse up by North Vegas Airport. Great place and wonderful atmosphere but it closed a couple of years ago, to all of our loss.
Get Tabs to take you to the Thai place... |
Jerry's Nugget north of the downtown is where I went with TABS. Excellent Prime Rib and very affordable. Leave room for pie!

Ian:
I'm heading out to NAB on Sunday. This is an interesting list of steak places. The past few years we have been going to Del Friscos. It is a bit pricey, but we have always come away really enjoying the meal. |
^ ^ ^ ^ ^
Another vote for Del Friscos on Paradise Road. A short cab ride from the strip, excellent food. http://delfriscos.com/locations_full.php?lid=22 |
Cut at the Pallazzo. Try the bone marrow. Truly decadent...
|
Golden Steer near the Strat...not the greatest location but AMAZING food and frequented by the Rat Pack, Elvis, etc back in the day.
|
Another vote for Craftsteak at MGM - excellent - albeit pricey (you won't walk away for less than $150 - $200 per person depending on drinks).
Heck - you're on an expense account - right? |
Hugos Cellar
Been to a few. I like the treatment at Hugos Cellar on the old strip. Cannot explain it. Just like the place. Old school vibe. Great Filet and the service is the finishing touch.

just got back from vegas. You can't go wrong with the prim rib at the cal. downtown. $8.99 with all you can eat salad bar was the best prime rib i had in a while.

Been to Hugo's years ago & we went to Del Frisco's last year. Both were good but . . . I wasn't joking when I said 30 years of shows in Vegas. 1982 was my 1st CES.
Charlie Palmer's has been the most consistent but it slipped last year imho so it has moved to the 'no' list. We really liked Stack in January so it's on for one night. I also booked Panevino (great Italian south of airport) & Lindo Michoacan (great Mexican on Desert Inn) for other nights. So I booked 3 restaurants for Monday (busy show insurance ;)) & we will cancel 2 once we decide. I booked SW, Carnevino & Craft. Thanks all! Now I just have to get there. Air Canada is having a pilot sick strike today which may mess up my flight tomorrow. I am not amused. Ian |
Good luck!
We do expect a thorough review of your restaurant of choice! Enjoy! mg |
