Do pics of girls on cars help sell?

Anyone need a beater? Does the girl help sell this truck?

Quote:
1981 Volkswagen Rabbit
1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Diesel pickup truck 5-speed

Starting bid: US $700.00

Up for auction is this 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit diesel pickup truck. She's got 236,000 miles with a 5-speed transmission and gets 45 mpg! Awesome truck, but definitely rough around the edges - she came from the backwoods of Indiana. Some pretty bad rust on the body, floor panels were patched lousily by previous owner, some holes in bed. Bought this old girl a few months back and was planning on using her as a daily driver/long-term renovation project.
About a month ago I was driving her to Nashville to visit some family when 5th gear slipped out and wouldn't engage when I released the clutch. The previous owner who was a mechanic had said that it needed new shifting linkage bushings, which I'd bought and had in the truck, so when I got to Nashville I managed to replace the ball joint in the linkage, but didn't have time for all the bushings that day. Drove her out of the shop trying to break in the pretty stiff shifting and the lost all connection to the transmission about 10 miles down the road. I know that if the linkage is even 1/8" out of alignment it won't work, so that's my best guess.
All the same, this truck is being sold as a project/parts car, AS-IS, no warranty expressed or implied. It's got a smooth-running engine, but it's got these linkage issues, the body's rough with quite a bit of rust, windshield is cracked, hood is loose, driver door hinges out of alignment - making the door hard to open/close, battery is in pretty poor shape, radio antenna is broken, and there are probably other quirks I can't think of right now. All the electrical systems work fine though, and it drove well for a couple months before this happened. I wasn't able to register this truck in Kentucky because it wouldn't pass inspection with the cracked windshield, so I've got a signed-over title to my name which is probably no use to anyone. I can write a bill of sale, though, which I believe can be used to register a vehicle in Tennessee.

In short: she's a good truck for someone looking for a big project or a parts car. This is not a daily driver. Wish I had the time and money to fix her up myself, I've been wanting one of these for a long time, but times are hard and I've got to have something more reliable. My loss is your gain. Sorry about the lack of pictures, but these are a few I snapped last time I was in Nashville, engine is what you'd expect to see under the hood.. Good luck bidding!

I'm no art critic, but I do like the photo composition. The trash lying causally about really compliments the setting and feel.

Windshield is cracked.

I'm thinking that's beyond cracked. There's a nice complimenting star-burst from the headlight though.

Here I think the photographer could have staged this photo better. While I respect the intention not to spoil the vehicle lines with the model grandstanding, she really isn't adding much in this shot. Notice how the model becomes nearly invisible in the background.

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.
