Sold a Mini, bought a Mini...

All:

Yesterday we drove to Portland & delivered the Countryman to its new owner;

And picked this up from Pelican member gtilove...Note his 356 cab in the background!

This car is great fun to drive- and now we have two little red cars that are icons...

Wife is going to use it as a DD- we'll see how it goes!

Cheers,

Paul.

Looks like a lot of fun!

I'd say you made a great move. Those GIANT minis bug me for some reason. It's too bad you didn't get a pic of the new and old side by side for comparison. The new minis are cute, but I'd really love, I think, to have one of the originals.

The 'new' minis have "Go-Kart like handling."

This thing is a Go-Kart!

Alas, they never met. But here's the best I can do; (Note: Land Rover suspension was in 'access height' in the first pic, so it looks like it's busted.)

Paul, love the Mini (both old and new). However, I'm jealous at the size of your two car garage. Also, what made you sell the '89 and '96 but keep the SC? I forgot to mention that I had an '05 Mini. It was fun but was still just an appliance for me.

Freed up a big pile of money, plus I prefer the 'raw' feel of the SC!

The Mini swap was the same. The new one was a lot less money, and more fun to drive. Can't beat that!

Nice! I've always been curious, how does the classic Mini drive? Kudos to the wife for driving something fun and unique, she's a keeper! :)

i love both minis!!

the classic is tiny..

what is all that grit on the street? is it loose, or is it just concrete spalling?

Good looking mini, I'd love to have one of those someday. Nice Landie too!

But... I remember my neighbor going through 15" of snow like a hot knife in butter...

Quite a feat since the wheels were 13"

Drives like a go-kart. No power steering, front wheel drive, handles much better when you push it.

They did a chip seal then some clown in a sweeper managed to remove most of the chip. On the plus side, it looks better than it did before!

Another pic...

I learned to drive in a Mini and have owned two. They sip gas as well as turn on a dime. You'll get as many (or more) looks in it than in the SC. Looks great in your garage. Now hunt for a set of Revolutions or Minilites and you will be set. Have fun!

Oh My God! I had a mini just like that. The new mini looks like the box the old mini came in. Congrats on buying a REAL mini. We called mine a garbage can with 10" wheels. Like driving a large can. Mine was a 650cc engine. Get in, turn the key, hit the button on the floor, drive all day at full throttle. Loved mine. Now if yours is an 1100 or a 1275 cc...oh yeah go kart kinda fun right there. better hope you never need heat.

targa911S 04-22-2012 07:52 PM

Does yours have roll up windows or do you have the sash windows out? Mine had sliders. Drove mine from Cleveland to Niagra Falls one fall weekend. Mj and I were deaf and frozen by the time we got home. had a lot of fun though...good times in that car.

Not only is she cool with it, but when we retire to the USVI we plan to take it with us. Perfect since they drive on the other side down there!

For an idea of its size, the back end of the Mini & SC are lined up...

Sweet, hope it works out.

I've always wanted one, too much fun to pass up. The only one I've drive was a bit of a POS and was so slow it tripped on itself. Still a hoot.
