I removed paint from my car (lane marking paint) with claybar, acetone, Goof-off and rubbing compound. Put a nice coat of wax on after and you couldn't tell a thing had happened. Be careful with acetone!!

When dipso says "hot" is a solvent rating system, what he means is rate of evaporation. The xylene I mentioned is slow to evaporate and is used to retard lacquer thinner in hot weather. The "hot" thinner additive in this scenario is toluene.

So, xylene may work to soften the paint before evaporating. The reason to use the soft rag is to keep the surface wet while you rub. You can "feel" the paint. I don't know what's in Goof Off, but it hasn't done well for me. It can't be anything too far from what we are talking about. It's a compound of solvents and light oils.

Thanks to everyone. The lacquer thinner did the trick. She said it took about an hour and a half to get it all cleaned up. I did tell her to make sure and get a coat of wax back on the affected areas. The picture was texted with a "tada". The magical part is this board. Always the right answers.

Thanks Again,

She used the paint for a project and it was last seen on a nearby shelf. You know school teachers and their crafty projects. There is no telling when it was knocked off, but I would blame it on the dog if I were her...
