all natural peanut butter.

i am having a hard time with it.

i like peanut butter. SKIPPY has sugar in it, so i decided to buy some natural stuff. peanuts and some salt. WTF? it is watery, has a film of oil on top. i had to stir it up to make my half sandwich. taste okay, but will need tastebud adjustments.

what gives? is it worth it? just read i need to store it in the fridge. crazy talk!

ok, took the day off and i am bored.

Yup, you have to stir it. It's not homogenized.

I wish I could be bored on a day off, too may freaking honey-dos!

Find a store with a grinder. IMO, peanut butter doesn't get any better than that!

life's too short for runny peanut butter. just eat what tastes good.

Skippy and Jif take out all the yummy peanut oil and sell it. Then they replace in with cheaper nasty hydrogenated vegetable oils. It's not nearly as tasty or healthy.

Try Adams. Just peanuts and salt. Microwave a new jar for a minute to soften it before you stir. It stays well mixed for quite a while. And it's GOOD!

You could make your own. Add what youlike to it while you are at it. Or eat the Nutella.

scottmandue 04-27-2012 12:37 PM

I get Laura Scudder's at Vons, yes you have to stir it and keep it refrigerated.

I'm a little shocked Vash, a man of your culinary skills and knowledge being out of the loop on peanut butter!

For that matter can't you just get high quality peanuts and toss them in a food processor? (I'm much too lazy for that!)

I'm not a brand name snob about very many things. But when it comes to my PB&J it better be Peter Pan Peanut butter and welchs grape jelly....

Chocaholic 04-27-2012 12:49 PM

Agree. Eat what you like. Life is short.

That's a candy bar, not a sandwich.

We keep a couple of things in the house that the grandkids like, Slippy and Kraft mac n' cheese. I can't stomach either one.

Actually, Nutella and peanut butter (yes, the kind you stir) makes an AWESOME sandwich! Toast the bread, then put the Nutella on one side, p-butter on the other. Nom-nom-nom!!!

The problem is that, for most folks, following that advice makes it shorter.

Real peanut butter from a natural foods store is one of the greatest flavours on the planet, IMO. I don't know why it tastes better than the grocery store "just peanuts and salt" stuff, but it does.

porsche4life 04-27-2012 01:04 PM

I'd rather live a short life eating good food, than a long life eating bland food....

Palum6o 04-27-2012 01:13 PM

my wife gets MaraNatha all natural no-stir peanut butter. They sell it at whole foods. It's the bomb.

aigel 04-27-2012 01:19 PM

I shake the glass when it is relatively warm to mix it. I have been wondering if I could bring it to the paint section at Home Depot and ask them to put it on the mixer-shaker? That'd be perfect. I wouldn't touch any non-organic PB, like others mentioned, that stuff is processed pretty heavily. I stay away from all processed foods at home.

anyone know if you can pour it off and use the oil from the natural stuff for stir fry?

dog is the only one with a daily adiction to peanut butter.
he cant have nutella

gtc 04-27-2012 02:14 PM

I don't see why not.

I use this stuff. It barely separates, and it's just straight nuts... no salt. I think it's noticeably better than Adams.

Here you go, mate.
Best PB in the world. :)
Peanut Butter
Hope you can get it in the US.

Maybe, but when you start getting to the bottom of the jar of peanut butter it's going to be very thick and dry without the oil.

Yep... why not just buy peanut oil?

And those of you who like peter pan and skippy... I presume you eat captain crunch and count chocula?

I dare you to go without sugar and salt for a month to find out how over processed food has ruined you taste buds.
