Once you've disconnected and unbolted everything, they will bring over the fork lift to lift it out. We cut a couple of seat belts out of the car and used them for straps. Once it's paid for, they let me back my little PU truck into their gate and they loaded it in for me. Piece of cake. :)

Yep, most of the yards supply wheelbarrows as well.

Also, many "normal" junk yards have a pick/pull yard off to the side but for whatever reason don't advertise it. Just call and ask.

Are there any in SoCal? From the site it looks like the nearest is Fresno...

The best ones are in L.A., just not part of the company in that link. Not sure about San Diego, you'd have to google that or something.

There are many here in the Atlanta area. I found three FWD Subie trannies in one, pulled them all and paid $50 each I think. Sold one to a 914 Subie convert for $500, traded one for a $400 engine cradle and put the third in my 914. They (Pull A Part) charge $1/person for entry but it's usually worth it just for entertainment purposes.

For those who haven't been, pack everything or you'll be making trips to the nearest parts shop for tools you already own. I keep a bag packed with duplicates just for PAP trips.

Mrs. Mossguy and I use the Guy Mall for some "togetherness" time. Usually on a day like in the pix. A rare day when the sun shines in the soggy Pacific Northwest. We check online for any "new" Volvo 240's at the yard, take our pre packed toolkit and usually find what we need. Son of Mossguy has two 240's, so we have his list as well. We usually find what we are looking for.

What a nice, clean yard, Tom! I could just live in those places. I don't know what it is but I'm so happy when I'm pulling precious parts on a perfect SoCal day in the junk yard. It's so quiet and peaceful, almost like being out in the woods with another person walking by once in a while. Lots of really clean MB and BMWs that have been hit or junked for some other reason. I have seen tons of Porsche 944s and 928s.

Come to Sun Valley, it's junkyard central.

Speeder - Our favorite yard is under new management since about 2 yrs ago. Prior to that, it was a hazardous mud hole. The new owners dug out all the mud (I suppose they crushed all the cars at that point), Put in crushed rock drainage, then gravel, plus 2 or 3 macadam main aisles. They are now connected to internet piknpull search engine. Only the weather becomes a negative (often).

They just opened a new one in OKC. I need to check it out, but the good content is negligible in OK. All freaking old American iron.
