The Avengers
Took the family last night - watched the standard version in a packed theater. The 3D and IMAX versions appeared to be near sold out as well.
My kids loved it. Lots of explosions, fighting and aliens mixed with comic relief. I thought the movie was well produced and felt we got our money's worth of entertainment for the $ 50 price tag to take your family of 4 to the movies. My only issue with the movie was the story - rather silly and tired with the way- overused 'aliens coming to attack and take over the Earth' theme. Bottom line is if you like Super Hero movies then this one is worth seeing. |
Glad you liked it. We just started prepping Thor 2.

Excellent movie - very exciting and some play on the Thor/Hulk relationship (conflict) in there.
So Thor 2 is coming before Iron Man 3? |
No, I believe Iron Man 3 will come out first. I think the release date is May 3, 2013. Thor 2 we are prepping in London and it will release a week or so before Thanksgiving, 2013

Just returned home from seeing it with 2 of my kids. $18 for all 3 of us. We each were asleep for different parts of it (it was dark and warm...g'nite!) but it was a good flick...although it is pretty loud and long. Stayed for the first "preview" but not for the one at the very end of all the credits.
Our small town theater is no where near cutting edge (and so the $6/ea. admission) but I was still disappointed with the severe blurring when the camera would pan from side to side. I'd think this would be a non-issue anymore. |

My wife and I went to see the 12:45 matinee in Huntsville today - tickets were still $12 each. We watched the IMAX/3D version and absolutely loved it (this was our first experience with this venue). A bit far-fetched at times with some subtle humor... overall an awesome movie and we gave it two-thumbs up. A good bit of our high rating was due to the IMAX/3D presentation.

Took my boys today. We all are into hero movies so we liked this one quite a bit. Was that a NSX convertable at the end?
|
There were a couple of very conspicuously placed Acuras in the movie. The one you're talking about, at the end - not sure what it (obviously an Acura) but it was quite striking.
OK, did anyone else bust up laughing when the Hulk POUNDED Loki? Or was that just me with my sometimes inappropriate sense of humor? :D angela |
shut up, shut up, shut up......haven't watched it yet, thank you.
|
Great movie. Saw it last night. I don't think the 3D did much, really.

I liked what most critics have complained about - the thin plot. With so many characters, most movies make the mistake of trying to give everyone a plot line or their own little drama and bog down the film (see "The Expendables" or the "We Are The World Video"). Knowing that the audience knows the characters and the set-up, they were able to hit the ground running and keep things moving. Even so, there were some good human moments. Tony and Pepper sparring, and Pepper's chumminess with Coulson flowed. Ruffalo's Banner was good as well. |
The scene at the end of the credits was great. My wife didn't get the humor in it, but I just couldn't stop laughing.

This just in from Captain Obvious...rather than chuck civility out the window, maybe it would be reasonable to go see the film or stop reading the thread until you do...
|
No, he's right to be upset. I can totally see how the vital plot points I mentioned could ruin the movie for someone

What are you, Siskel and Ebert?

...just what did you expect people to be talking about in the thread? |

I have basically stopped going to the movies as they are all so tritely boring. Everyone of them has FX up the azz, car chases, cars blowing up, superheroes winning the day at the end of a journey fraught with peril and danger...One has come to the conclusion that people are easily distracted by gaudy things that makes noise.
Where is the PLOT, most movies have none except to collect the box office, where is the character development, TV yes television is far more interesting than any of the crap that passes for good today...and where is the dialogue of course the actors have to be able to speak in more than monosyllabic mumbling...One begins to wonder if there is any literacy left in the world or has it all come down to nice and shiny baubles.. |
