Ray Bradbury Passes.....RIP
One of my favorite authors.
Ray Bradbury, beloved science fiction author, dies | The Lookout - Yahoo! News |
Mine too. Spent a lot of time discovering science fiction when I was younger thanks to him. RIP.
|
One of my favorites, as well. RIP Mr. Bradbury.

The last - "ABC of SciFi" to die...
Asimov Bradbury Clarke The Illustrated Man is one of my all time favorites, and I bet almost everyone has read Fahrenheit 451 in school. A great author-who really painted worlds with his words. I remember reading a short story in Golden Apples of the Sun, where he wrote about a school aged kid putting on that new pair of sneakers for the first time in summer. Bradbury made that simple act - relating the first inkling of the freedom ahead during the child's summer break, Bradbury made that simple truism poetic. He will be missed. |
met him in '95. on set of "it came from outer space 2".
he was an absolute gentleman. |
Another long time fan here. He was one of the greats.

RIP.
Say "hi" to the Illustrated Man. |

He came over to our table and spent a bunch of time shooting the bull, very nice man! |
Sigh...the Golden Age is truly over.
RIP |
Odd, that Ray scorned the internet as a scam to enrich computer companies.. yet his passing is quickly reported via it.

RIP, Mr. Bradbury. With the loss of all the greats, I wonder who will take their places?
|
My favorite - The Martian Chronicles.

I hated to read until one day a teacher handed me "R is for Rocket". I then read the Martian Chronicles, the Illustrated Man and Farenheit 451.
From there I expanded to Arthur C Clark: 2001 A Space Odyssey (before the movie), Kurt Vonnegut:Breakfast of Champions, and Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land... |
Wonderful writer. Could paint amazing scenes in ones mind. Hard to believe The Martian Chronicals and Fahrenheit 451 were written in the 1950's. Not sure if this is a rumor, but apparently he never drove a car and the JPL once let him remote control the Mars rover. How cool is that?
R.I.P. Mr. Bradbury and may you continue in time. |
