Update on "Bailey"......
Quote: Celebrating a couple of miracles this weekend - here's one of them: You may remember Bailey, the little blind ACD from Texas who was dropped at a kill shelter by her owners. Amy Sutter said she'd foster if we could get her to Portland. Our ACD community stepped up with donations, and ACDRI was able to arrange to bring Bailey to Portland last spring. When she arrived, we found that not only was she blind due to glaucoma, she was also heartworm-positive, AND she'd not been spayed! Eager as we were to deal with her eyes & relieve the pain from the glaucoma, the first issue was to get her clear of HW so that other surgeries would be safe. Almost a year later, Bailey is HW-free, she's been spayed, and her eyes have been removed, relieving the pain from glaucoma. And the best news: She's been ADOPTED!! By a veterinarian. So here are the photos of Bailey's journey from homeless dog - deserted in a shelter by her original owners to her adoption photos new and her new mom's report. Thank you to each and every person who donated to get Bailey out of the shelter, flown to Oregon, and to help cover the costs of her medical treatment and surgery. Each of you helped make a miracle. : End quote Pics: Original pic as posted on FB while in Texas: https://scontent.ftpa1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...9a&oe=576EC84D After transport to Portland: https://scontent.ftpa1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...49535941_o.jpg Enucleation is done - recovering from the anesthesia: https://scontent.ftpa1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...e8&oe=57233262 At the local cider house, celebrating being HW- and pain-free!! (Out w/ the girls!): https://scontent.ftpa1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...3f&oe=574BBA30 In her new home.... "She is so freaking cute! The cats really settled down and realize that Bailey isn't a threat. Everyone's getting into their old routines": https://scontent.ftpa1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...06&oe=574EE238 "We are loving her!": https://scontent.ftpa1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...e1&oe=5767F7AF "I have her at the clinic in a soft crate by my desk and she is being a perfect little dog. We've discovered the cuddle monster that she is!": https://scontent.ftpa1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...c6&oe=57535157 I can't express in words my appreciation for all who helped this little girl. Thank you for giving this little girl a second chance! |
