I did a C section on a Mastiff once: 10 pups to remove (all lived) and the biggest damned uterus to sew up that I ever saw. She weighed 195 before surgery and 155 after.

Outside it looked like this under clear skies. Overnight temps hitting 27-30 degree, all water in the soil was frozen and raised about 2". Everything was cold soaked.

Inside, it looked like this after a particular Lump looked outside when he was pushed out for his morning doo.

Winkipop has been struggling to get up from a seated position for the past couple weeks now. She turned 11 back in March so it could be just arthritis but whatever is happening I'm going to get her checked out as thoroughly as possible. The good news is the same vet who repaired both of Billabong's rear cruciate ligaments a few years ago is back in town and he also does stem cell procedure, in case Winkipop is a candidate for that to rejuvenate her capsules.

I'm getting ahead of myself so will wait to have her examined with diagnostics before knowing more but I am SO glad this vet is back in town. He had been working in Panama with the Floating Doctor group. Maybe he's just back here for the holidays - I'll find out when I see him.

I've never seen Winkipop so reluctant to get up on all 4 legs. It's so sad and heart breaking for a dog that has been very active all her life. I'm optimistic we will find a way to address this issue.

Here's Winks....

I gave Winkipop a 1/2 tablet of Previcox.227mg last night, leftover med from Billabong's surgery, and she's like a new dog this morning.

A big thumbs up for pain meds!

Will still take her in Monday for full Xray exam and blood work. They will Xray every joint in her body as a screen for potential stem cell treatment.

That was the last of the Previcox I had but I have some 50mg Tramadol I can use between now and Monday which will help reduce her Joint pain.

Will keep everyone posted as I'm sure the stem cell treatment might be of interest to others with similar situations.

Thanks, definitely do. Hopefully, the Dr finds something fixable.

Wishing all the best for your little Aussie battler Baz.

varmint 12-21-2016 09:26 AM

When cowboy got arthritis the vet suggest I give him a butt massage every evening along with the other more conventional treatments. Last few years of his life he'd greet me at the door ass first waiting for his rubbin.

Hey Baz,

Nothing but happy thoughts, well wishes and positive Henry vibe being sent towards Winkipop during her challenging times. Happy to see that better living through modern chemistry is helping with her discomfort.

Hope your vet buddy has nothing but good news for your girl.

Please give your little cutie some belly rubs from us but Henry is asking that some of the well wish belly rubs get spread around to the other girls too.

Heh heh... not sure I'm reading you... are you saying he took one look/feel and decided "no thanks, you might forget to let me back in... I'll hold it until it warms up a bit"?

Grandkids got an early Christmas present earlier this week from Mom and Dad... a Chorkie. I'd never heard of that one... part Chihuahua, part Yorkie.

Meet Daisy...
