Some folks like their Heelers a little more bad ass. This one at Starbucks this morning has pit bull and I think she said Cane Corso in the mix. Cool looking, but didn't seem too approachable.

"Off proteins", ie not chicken or beef, are supposed to be better for them.
Check the ingredients list. The fewer the better. Dogs don't care if food is colorful and sparkly and shaped like dolphins. Cow rawhide chews gum up their digestive system. I give mine about 2/day beef esophagus which he absolutely demands after walks. I get at Menards but a lot of stores here sell them. It's supposed to have chondroitin for the joints. https://www.cadetpet.com/all-products/cadet-beef-sticks-for-dogs-12-ounces Also giving a bit more canned food to his dry 'cause he only got a few teefus left. They might also like unsweet coconut water from Aldi (about a buck a can, not four bucks plus in most stores) It has potassium which is good for the muscles. My piggy is 14-15yo, can't full run or jump up on the bed anymore this year, but otherwise I'm not seeing signs of him slowing down too much. Still stays at speed and can gallop to catch up when walking the trails. Hopefully I'll get a few more years out of him. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1727123454.jpg |

Such an iconic image, I had to look up the story behind "His Master's Voice." The dog's name was "Nipper."
