On a road trip to Fort Bragg. The wife looks back and gets the infamous, "Are we there yet" look from Sir Henry. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...c566a71910.jpg Yes, the Mrs got the lump a safety car seat. Sent via Jedi mind trick by the cat |
"Lump" was Picasso's name for his dog.....it means "Rascal".

4 year old female lab got busted by the dog catcher on Monday.
I'm gonna keep an eye on her, if her owner doesn't pick her up in time she may come up for adoption. She doesn't look happy in jail. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1467134426.jpg |

Does anyone here have a husky?
The kids want one, but I'm not that familiar with the breed /traits ..... I need to make sure the next dog I get is the right one, the kids will be on their own soon enough and it'll be me and the dog into retirement. |

Thanks Baz.

Baz,
My girl Stella passed over thanksgiving. I carry her tag with me everyday and miss her terribly. She would play that game with me for hours, grunting and spitting at whatever I had in my hands. Thanks for sharing. |

I wonder if he knew about your Stella......hmmm....... I'm very sorry for your loss.....every dog owner unfortunately has to go through this and no words can help ease the pain. That said....try to remember the good times and know that she had a wonderful life with her human. |

Particularly when raised with children, they are friendly, outgoing and actually ENJOY being around children. Older dogs introduced to children can be a hit and miss - I find this true of all breeds, not just huskies. These dogs are escape artists. They are strong, athletic and have a powerful desire to "see the country." If they get off leash, they are pretty likely to make a joyful run toward the horizon. Install "come here" and "down" early. They can be a little willful to train, but not excessively so, responding well to both food and "play" rewards. They shed 365 days per year. Double duty shedding on a seasonal basis, but they will shed every day. If you are a freak about dog hair - not the breed for you. If you think every outfit looks better with a few dog hairs on it - then proceed - LOL! Good, loyal dogs. Athletic enough for walking/running companions. They can definitely keep up with your children and anyone else who wants to play outside. Generally very healthy as they are a working breed. I've seen some show dogs who have hip dysplasia problems, but I've not seen that in working lines. angela |

I recently buried some of her ashes on the golf course behind my parents home next the the ashes of my childhood dog. Stella loved long walks on the golf course. Now every time I play she's there. I suppose the time will come to find a new dog in the not too distant future. |

Today we lost our girl Cheyenne while camping with the family. SHe got bloated and was try to throw up, called the oncall vet a town over and he said bring her in, probably twisted stomach. Threw her the wife and kids in the truck and headed to the vet; she died on arrival at the vet.
Sad the boys had to see that, but learning about death and loss at a young age is important. Cheyenne had a serious seizure about 3 weeks ago and my wife and I decided if she needed anything else we would put her down to prevent suffering. She was almost 14 which is old for a weimaranier and we got her a week before we found out we were having twins, so she grew up with the boys. She was loved, and she was a good dog...... I'm truely sad. |
Sorry for your loss, Bob.
That is a good long life and she was lucky to have such good people. |
