The female brain…
OK, I know this applies to everyone.
Not far from our home, there are two left turns that merge in to one lane several hundred feet down the road. The right lane has to merge into the left lane after the turn. It’s always a pain for people to merge left. I’ve had people moving to the left, when there is no room for them. I always get it the left lane so I don’t have to merge. I have told Ms Rocket 1000 times, stay in the inside lane when you make the turn. Too many nuts want to barge over to the left when merging. No. She can’t do that. She calls me and tells me she got hit from behind. The guy got out of his car, screaming and yelling and banging on her window. I asked her what lane she was in and she said the right lane. She said she was merging over and the guy hit her. She said he sped up and was honking his horn. 😂 Yeah, I’m thinking the same thing…. She merged over and hit the guy🤯 ![]() ![]()

"...there are two left-hand turns that merge in to one lane." That is a problem for sure. The rest of the post made no sense to me but if she got hit from behind no matter what she was doing, if there's one lane and cars are supposed to merge from 2 lanes, the guy that hit her, his front to her rear, gets to pay.
It would be a different story if there were 2 lanes where she turned into as she might have been at fault for an improper lane change. Sounds to me like she was doing just fine and someone else got a little impatient. I'd draw that one up in detail with pics and send it to the ins co. Won't make any difference in the long run. Your rates just went up. Could she have avoided this? Maybe and maybe the guy is trying to shift the blame by his histrionics.

G'day!

I'm not taking sides and certainly was not there and could be wrong but.....I guess it is possible the guy sped up when he could have just eased up and let her over.
Dash cam footage would be helpful from his vehicle. Generally speaking, the rule of thumb when merging is it's every other vehicle that gets in.

Maybe a teaching/learning moment ? Sorry she had to deal with the yelling idiot . Damage looks minimal .

After the two lanes turn left, there’s several hundred feet, and the right lane merges into the left lane.
I don’t know if he sped up, but with him honking his horn, warning that he’s there, I suspect her left rear quarter panel, hit his right front corner. She needs a new spotter, to let her know it was OK to merge over. Like the NASCAR guys do. |

I think most of the time that sort is more clueless. I think a lot of drivers like to latch onto another driver to use them for pacing, even though I don't think they consciously think about it. I'll often seen 2 cars at 4am nose to tail at 80mph when they could instead be separated by Ľ mile or more. And it's frequent enough, that I'm fairly certain that they aren't friends that are traveling together. Another thing that will often brush those folks off, is weaving back and forth through your own lane. Not crazy weaving, not over the line weaving, just enough that it's obvious you aren't going straight and steady. Most of the time, other cars will either back off or pass.

Excellent! Hopefully, the other guy doesn't try pulling shenanigans with your insurance.

Sorry that happened to your and your wife. If this makes you feel better, yield sings are just suggestions here now, same as stop signs. Zipper, WTF is that? Most are still pretty good about allowing other or the driver in front of them to go but many no longer care. its every man for themselves as long as they get their ways. Ram their vehicle in no matter who's in line or front. Women too. Makes mo difference.
We have traffic circles that have both lanes leading into the circle. If you want to go left, stay in the left lane. There are those that will go right from the left lane and sit on their horn if they do't get their way. |

Sorry that happened!
Of course you already know that you were right and you also know that there's no need to remind anyone of that.

A zipper is every other one merging. Some douchenozzles can't play nice. Many times when 2 try to weave in front of me in tandem I can be a real azzhole. Then I wonder since no one is going to get there (wherever they are going) i minute earlier I just sit back remembering where and what I live in. A complete sewer of humanity.

Oh, this is a good thread
. Sorry to hear of your wife's "accident". The ability of women to view the world completely different from reality is something I am well acquainted with. Mrs Dave is one of the smartest people I know, seriously. B ut when it comes to driving (or other time/space oriented things) she is "interesting" . She drives very quickly, and not without some skill. Sort of. I don't see how it works for her, but it does. She does things on the road other drivers (and highway engineers) wouldnt expect. She has had many accidents, none of which have ever been her fault (!). Occasionally I have been following her on the road and I understand why these accidents are never her fault. She is erratic, in speed and vehicle placement. She speeds up where you expect her to slow down. Slows where you expect her to speed up. Moves into the lane you would least anticipate. Nothing makes sense. Clearly the female brain is different . God made them beautiful, fun, kind, caring, and wonderful. But different.

Regarding the female mind…being told how and where to drive by said husband is akin to telling her that her butt looks big in those shorts. Much like how the female mind reacts to being told to calm down.
This may be your culprit.
