New Fiat....

...the new Fiat 500L just introduced in Europe comes with a Lavazza espresso maker built in as standard equipment. Just read this while waiting for my dentist.

Can you say "brillant"?

Direct competition to the Suzuki Cappuccino, perhaps ?

Jim Richards 08-08-2012 03:06 AM

Brilliant!

Great, one more device in a car not related to driving it. More distractions. Just wait for the first lawsuit for hot coffee in the lap.

^ I don't see what those cars from 30-40 years ago having any relevance to anything they make today.

That's like making blanket statements about Korean cars based on what they made 20 years ago.

lol

AFC-911 08-08-2012 08:09 AM

This isn't exactly a brand new car. They've been selling these things in Europe since 2009 (maybe longer, I'm not sure anymore).

And lol. All of those cars you mentioned are all old as hell. In case you haven't noticed, no one is selling cars that are monumentally horrendous in build quality these days.

Better yet, why don't you go see for yourself?

afterburn 549 08-08-2012 08:12 AM

What I am saying the Fiats fell apart BRAND NEW.Like a few others.
Never mind just let it go...................

AFC-911 08-08-2012 08:14 AM

Yeah. How long ago was that? You sound like a bitter old man.

Brilliant idea, yes. Fussy and poor execution in my opinion. Why not have an integration with the dash board/glovebox area so you don't have to look down and back while driving (because you know people will not limit their opportunities to when they're parked at a light)?

And don't get me started on the 500L....

I had a 79 X1/9 which I drove for two years without reverse. Nice chassis in desperate search of an engine. I think it was 67 hp. My buddy and I put a 4 speed GM transaxle and a 13B rotary into it. Solved pretty much everything that was wrong. And I had reverse!

Bragging rights, a catch or a hook in marketing terms.

Good for them, but they might not need something like that had the car been a better value.

no but i can say "f*cking stupid"

no one needs these kind of distractions. if you need this to keep awake on the road please pull over and take a walk

maybe make it so it works only when the engine if off, and parked. these kind of gadgets belong in the back of camper vans, or in the trunk for tailgaiting parties.

Danimal16 08-08-2012 01:48 PM

Ted,

this is the Italians, they drive crazy!

I love that they did this, it is so typical of a culture that just seems to know how to have a little bit of fun. They may have their faults but hell, a fiat with a latte machine, that is just nuts.

Could have done the same for cell phone but in the name of Freedom of Choice embedded in the US Constitution adopted on the 17 of September, 1787, part of my DNA... blah blah blah, not happening :rolleyes::rolleyes:
