I have a TR6 (full body off restoration) nice car. i would gladly trade it and lotsa $ for a Tiger.

I've owned a variety of Brit cars, including a TR3A, a TR6 and a TR8.
The one I miss is the TR6. Fyi, parts are still readily available (and not too expensive) for the TR6, from The Roadster Factory and Moss Motors. |
mgb or mgc

I'll add my vote for a TR6.
I'll also add a vote for a Bugeye Sprite. There are still good "driver" quality ones around for under 10k. I almost accidently bought one for 6k in July, but my wife nipped that in the bud. I can't even imagine buying a Spitfire over an MGB. MGBs aren't great, but they are charming and fun to drive (as long as you aren't going far, and the roads are good). Do Spitfires have any redeeming features? |
I see MGA's show up on Bring a Trailer fairly often... I dunno much about them though...just like the look of them better than the B. Still Lucas elec's though... Prince of Darkness

I read a lot of the Brit classic car mags, and the impression I get from them is that the way these cars were when new is almost irrelevant. At this point, you're gonna have to replace almost everything on the car anyway, and these days there are modern upgrades for just about every system on the car.

My friend rebuilt one a few years ago out of a few donors. Ended up doing a lot of customized work and it turned out great.

I love the big Healeys but if I was spending that much I'd go 356. Every time I think I've made up my mind I change it, but that's all part of the fun. Thaks for all the great input and when it comes home I'll post pics, of course!
