And those two re-created movie cars are awesome! Thanks for sharing this, Steve.

I saw that Charger in Daly City while on a San Francisco layover earlier this year. Damn near wrecked my rental when I saw it coming up in the left mirror. Grabbed a shot with my iPhone. He made the left and headed toward the Olympic Club in the background.

I think that theater doing that promotion is WAY KOOOOOOOLLLLLL!!

Did the place get filled up?
It was shown in the 178 seat theater and it seemed half full. There was good energy there. All good except the idiot who kept calling out "Roper!"

They quizzed us with a little trivia before starting the movie, mentioning the mirror changes from McQueen to Ekins. They said the cars weren't supposed to go over 75 mph, but went up to 110. It took 3 weeks to film the chase.

That info is all from the IMDB page. There is a lot better stuff out there is you're a real car/film freak like me.

I'm sure they just dug up superficial stuff. I remember reading that they had to hot rod the Mustang a good bit as the Charger was walking away from it. Did the Charger have a 383 or a 440?

Some more (similar) pics:

The Charger was a 440 automatic and it was running away from the Mustang and hiding. The Mustang was a 390 4-speed.

No, no. This film was in the can at least 10 years before his diagnosis.
