My wife says the house is haunted
I have never seen anything, but she reports seeing a ghostly old guy who comes out of the guest bedroom or bathroom and walks down the hall toward the kitchen, occasionally turns to look at her if she is in the bedroom.
Apparently has been happening since we moved in, she is now looking to get some sage to smudge the place. So what is the consensus around here on this sort of thing?

Setting up for an excuse should you come home early one day and spot her boyfriend?
Kidding. Sounds bizarre. I'd move.

I'd help you move, but I'm not coming near your house.

I have had two experiences with ghosts, both while living and working in Europe. One was in the house we were living in, and one where I worked, which was formerly a pre WWII Luftwaffe barracks building. Asking around, I was advised to introduce myself to the respective ghosts, assure them that I meant no harm, and that I would be there peacefully for several years. I did it, and it seemed to work. No more manifestations.

I'm open minded, but skeptical.

What religion are you? (Not a question really)
You could tip a priest to come and bless the house. My mother has it done every year. She pays him about $20. He walks through the house saying prayers and sprinkles holy water around. He'll also bless and sprinkle anyone who stands still long enough. ![]() This is an Orthodox Christian priest. I don't know if Catholics or other denominations do it. Do you know any Greeks, Serbians or Russians? If approached appropriately and for a small donation they should come to your house regardless of your own beliefs. Tell him about the ghost and he'll say "the prayer for the dead". What have you got to loose? The twenty bucks would cover his fuel costs only.

Some people can see "them", some can't. If the old guy is just cruising around the house I wouldn't be too worried. But if it does become an issue maybe Jake (notfarnow) can list the house for you. I heard he sells haunted as well as not haunted houses.

I have seen a ghost myself before, at my Uncle Adam's house in Nebraska. His sub basement at night would make my hair stand on end halfway down the stairs. Too bad, had some very cool stuff down there.
Our ghost has never bothered me and I have never seen any manifestations. Guy behind us says the description matches the original owner of the house. I have a fair number of sweet little old Russian ladies that are patients, or maybe I will see if Euphemios knows a priest.

When we were kids my sister and I used to go down into our grandparents' basement and play ping-pong on their ping-pong table while the adults sat around and jaw-jacked upstairs.
We both always suffered from the most ferocious flatulence in that basement. Ghosts?

OK, so what if that person is not dead not a ghost but is living in the same house in another time. Every now & then there is some bleed through from one time to another. The other person may wonder if your wife is a ghost or an angel. If they live in the past wouldn't it be fun to communicate & tell them to buy Microsoft Stocks.

I lived in a haunted house in Mass for about 5 years. We never saw anything but heard voices and experienced "strange" events. My wife didn't sleep in the bedroom when I was out of town. Other guests that stayed in the house also heard the voices. In one instance my brother in-law stayed up all night on the couch as he was too freaked out in the guest bedroom!
If the spirits are "good" ones they really won't bother you all that much. If they don't like you, you will know it!

Yep. It wasn't Grandma's cooking, either--playtime was always before dinner. After dinner was a group food coma. Then epic dessert time.
