Nothing. It is not illegal to make one for your self

You don't even need a CNC mill. You can buy 80% forged blanks online and finish them with a drill press and a milling adapter. The rest of the parts are unregulated as long as you are only building a rifle. Anyone could buy the tools, a forged 80% lower and a parts kit and whip up an AR-15 without the government ever hearing about it. Then again anyone could buy an AR-15 in a parking lot off armslist and the government would never hear about it in most states...

Come on.....a barrel?!?! How are you going to print a rifle barrel? Think of the tolerances involved.

HardDrive - the barrel is not a regulated component - hence purchasing it would not be an issue.

i understand that the materials aren't up to the stresses of making a full on gun. but the parts need for something like this should be possible.
