Classic Car Rescue TV Show

I searched and didn't find anything.

So, I am watching episode 2. They are working on an older 911. The video footage of the 911 was cool in the beginning. They have a 3 week time frame to restore it.

I haven't watched the rest of the series, but it apparently focuses on old car restos...

Anyone else see this?

Jim thanks for posting that link. The Loud passenger was featured in a show called Bangladeshi bashers or something like that. It was a funny third world car customizing
show. In one episode they went in search of an engine for the custom they were building. Went out through the throngs in the street with a bicycle tired handcart, went to a warehouse full of engines and trannies as they were taken out of the cars. They found the one they were looking for, hooked up a batt and a coke bottle of gas and fired it up sitting on the ground.
This show was such a wild contrast to western car restoration show, really showed what can be done with a can do attitude and resourceful use of whatever is at hand.

Anyone see this show?

Cheers Richard

PS Jim, I hope you are feeling better these days

Cool show, even if they got a few facts wrong. I never understand why on these type of shows why they make these ridiculous deadlines.
I would like to see a follow up with who ever buys these things and see how they hold up. Probably filled with problems because of the rushed work.

Funny show. I'm no purist or expert but what a conglomeration. Ruf fiberglass front bumper, pre-74 rear rear bumper? Seems to be an early model dash, narrow body, post '83 3.2 motor, cookie cutter wheels? Talk about Frankenstein conglomeration! LOL

22,000 pounds for that car?

Video may be taken off internet as their "official" sites indicate that the producers have not approved episode for viewing in U.S. market.

Assuming lack of parts, tools, skills, or information aren't an issue, why wouldn't it take less than a few hundred hours to restore a car?

•I like the color, (of the car, not the expert analyst's pants, hah!)

• lots of time spent explaining the dizzy cap and rotor, then they don't even replace them.. Hah!

•3.3 liter? Is that what he said?

•looked like they did a decent job with the bodywork, but in the end, the car was less than it could have been... (humble opinion, of course...)

Thanks for the link. Entertaining show, but the car is a complete abomination. Cookies, 964, front bumper, black headlight trim rings, tail, the horror of it all. Nice color though.

All of these shows are exactly the same...

- the haggling for the original car
- emotional outbursts during the renovation
- artificially set time constraints
- the "tension" created during the process (cut and shut, electrical issues, etc...)
- no cost of labor factored in, EVER...
- artificial high value set by "expert", but what will the car sell for?

I've seen it all before... the actors change but the plot and plot devices never change...

Ok, being a glutton for punishment, I found a copy of Bangla Bangers.

What a different world some people live in....

testing a motor by putting it in the street and using a cup of gas.
stripping the paint off a car by using hack saw blades. no chemicals, no power tools....just lots of people with hacksaw blades...insane....
the fact that he (leepu) designs everything with NOTHING written down or calculated....

i love listening to the cockney guy's expressions....

and my favorite..."Meet Leepu, he's Bangladesh's answer to Enzo Ferrari"
