Lexus RX350
I am wanting to get a used Lexus RX350 for the wife. Any reviews on these? Kid hauler/grocery getter. Don't really need AWD. It seems like even the 2009's are getting stupid money ($34K). Unreal how much used Lexi are going for.

The RX350s certainly bring a premium over the competition
But even 2010s are typically under $34K, even with lower than normal miles for being 3 years old You can buy nice 2009 Cayenne V6 and 2009 BMW X5s for under $34K |
My coworker bought an 06 Cayenne V8. Even with a Carmax warranty he has spent thousands in maintenance/repairs in his less than two years of owning it. If it's a brand new leased vehicle, the germans make a beautiful product. But if it's something out of warranty, I am sticking japanese. My 06 GS430 has been bulletproof, with just a 90K timing belt/brakes and regular oil changes. I am not willing to risk the odd $2-4K repair on X5 or Cayenne.
(thanks, tho!) |
Do not get one with air ride suspension. The air struts in our RX330 failed at 50k. Very expensive to fix.
Our RX has been otherwise flawless. 9 years of ownership. They are not thrilling to drive, but my wife loves it. Very solid platform. |
Anyway, there are many 20-30K mile 2010 RX350s out there in CA for under $34K. If that's what you want, no one will tell you it's a bad purchase decision

My Dad drives a 2005 RX330 that was purchased new. I'm pretty sure that there have been no problems with it at all, other than him running into things with it. He's 80 years old and he loves it.
I drove it once and it almost put me to sleep, but it's a nice car. |

get a nice BMW wagon - maybe an M version lots of people buy SUVs who do not need the clearance or AWD, and I can only think it is some psychological thing |
