Mr. Receipt steps in up to defend all receipts printers. As if I didn't know that there are groups of people that need receipts and I need someone to explain it to me. Thank God I now know.

The topic is pet peeves. I posted mine.

You are peeved at people who get receipts. It seems you needed to be educated. Thank God now you are.

How about a pet peeve about criticizing other's pet peeves.

I was agreeing with you, not criticizing you.
How about a pet peeve about people who misjudge other people's comments about a person's pet peeve. [emoji849]

I was once doing glass/aluminum recycling between classes and night job on a large campus, which was heavy work. Empty bathroom. There are half a dozen sinks and one big metal tub I was washing the bins in. Some young Russian puchi suka walks in and squeezes right in front of me. I was on the job and had a reputation to uphold and just waited.

In Greece at the Acropolis I was standing by a long wall with a view over the city. A young Chinese couple pushes in front, right where I'm standing, and starts talking to each other loudly. The entire wall is empty and it's a long way down. I just moved over. Not going to mess up my good experience.

In the airport, long line for the check-in and I'm near the front, a middle age Chinese couple causally walked up and stood in front of me. Just slip right in nice and quiet. I said hey there and politely explained there was a line and all these people were waiting. A couple times. And a couple more times. This guy spoke acceptable English and wasn't going to take no for an answer. After receiving some insults I went into semi-buck mode and started looking him up and down hard squared off getting closer. Wife was grabbing at him. I had my say and turned away. They left. Someone behind said thanks. If they were desperate or good actors and late for a flight I would have let them in.

In summary: People who are rude for no greater purpose. That includes myself sometimes.

Speaking of gas station receipts ......why do they have to be a foot long?

HobieMarty 01-31-2025 08:13 AM

My pet peeve about receipts would be that, I hate when I have saved a receipt, like for an auto part, saved for warranty purposes, and over time the ink fades and I don't know what the receipt was for!!!!

Costco shopping cart etiquette. Hey Bob! Whattya say we stand here in the middle of the aisle and have a long discussion about nothing? Then we'll load up our carts with food sample wrappers and drink cups and abandon them in a prime parking space on the way out.

Stop calling it silverware.
There is no silver in flatware.
No restaurant is passing our silverware to customers.

I see some stores, Menards does this, have a kiosk near the customer service desk. You can look up and print any receipt in the last year or so. And then use it for a refund or return.

A major one for me is why in the heck does every phone message give detail instructions on how to leave a message. In this era, everyone knows how to leave a message! Just get to the beep and let me leave a message.

Ha! Try going to a CVS, their receipts are about 3 feet long. Speaking of CVS, why can't their computer recognize Hawaii is a different time zone? I go to use my coupon on a Wednesday night and it is expired. The manager has to override and give the discount.

Today's pet peeve is driver's taking corners at a literal dead crawl. They even do this when the road simply turns, and there's no intersection. Maybe it's a Florida thing.

oldE 02-02-2025 05:02 AM

Not just Florida, I'm afraid. We've got 'em up here too. I've mentioned before how much I dread coming up behind a gaggle of motorcycles who are riding at the speed of the least capable member. They seem to panic if the road isn't perfectly straight (and you won't find many straight roads in Nova Scotia) and getting by more than a couple on the next overtaking stretch is not in the cards.

Best
Les

OMG I'm not big on crowds and that place was so packed Sunday a couple of days ago. Sunny day, tolerable temps, it was insane and I suffered several instances of path blocking when more common sense alternatives existed.

I can be that guy. One of my ex's would tear me up for being an "elderly driver" when I was 38.

One of my pet peeves is similar. It's women that bring their husbands grocery shopping. There he stands, buggy in hand, smack in the middle of the isle, mesmerized by the soup selection, oblivious that he's in everyone's way.
Women, leave your husbands home!

^^^ I'm happy to stay home!
