Bosch dishwashers???
 

I kinda thought the dishwasher thing was the unspoken part of the marrige vows, I have recently been informed that that is not the case.
I've never had to replace a dishwasher in any other house I've owned and really know little about them but I did hear an ad for a Bosch dishwasher for about 500 bucks, 300 off the regular price, are they any good? What should I be looking for in a washer? Any brand recomendations? What has/hasn't worked for you?

I've installed a couple. Good machines. Quieter than most. Make sure you get the SS inside.

We are pleased with ours. As said above, don't get one with the plastic floor. The SS floor models are not much more $. I would also avoid one with button on the top unless you are going for a very minimal look.

I've had mine about 3 years and it's the best dishwasher I've ever had. It gets the dishes clean and it is so quiet there are lights that shine on the floor so you can tell it's running.

Just replaced our 6 year old Bosch with a Maytag. It's just as quiet. Problem with Bosch is the cost for parts to complete a simple repair make it a logical choice just to replace it. That's what we did. A pump went out (wouldn't drain as I recall) and part alone was just north of $300. Service call and installation pushed it near $500. New Maytag with warranty was $600. Done.

had ours just over three years and timer burnt out cost all most half what i paid for it other than that it has been great

We bought one a few years ago and love it. The capacity isn't as large as our old one but it is silent. I have opened it before during a cycle because I didn't realize it was running.

It also cleans better than our old builders special and the heating element isn't exposed.

Hopefully it will be reliable.

Had ours 4 or 5 years.
Only problem we've had was the pump quit once but i found a shard of glass that had wedged in the impeller. All has been fine since.
Quiet and does a good job.

We love our Bosch SHE55 model. It's so quiet we can't hear ir run, it gets everything clean the 1st time and it's been very reliable. Mind you, it cost $1000 and is made from stainless steel, so I expected a lot from it and I have not been disappointed.

Had ours for 11 years zero issues other than the odd splash when you open the door because you can't hear it running :D

I've heard that the Bosch is the low end in Germany; Miele the higher end.

My Bosch runs fine - tho it takes 2 hours to do so. Not at all silent, but it may be an older model than some above.

I will probably be the only person who responds in this thread about hating a Bosch dishwasher. I despise mine. It doesn't clean anything that isn't completely scrubbed down already, it isnt particularly quiet, and I feel like I refill it with JetDry at least once a week. It must have been installed wrong, or maybe its some kind of counterfeit or rebranded unit. The Bosch replaced a basic Kitchenaid unit with a stainless interior that ran dead quiet and cleaned everything. My wife gave the Kitchenaid to the cabinet guy when we remodeled and I would gladly swap the Bosch to get it back.

I have one, came with my house when I bought it in 2000. It has been great. (knock on wood)

Ours works great. Throw in baking pans caked in burned food and they come out clean. Model SHX7ER55/UC.

Whirpool I replaced it with has lasted 6 and does just as good a job

I have a Bosch, and it works fine. One thing that I have noticed with all dishwashers is that if you run the hot water at the sink until its Hot, then start the dishwasher it does a better job of cleaning. I guess the same thing for washing machines, except I can't run the hot water at my washing machine first since I don't have an adjacent sink.

Hugh, Yes, your observation is correct. The Bosch manual even recommended running the water to get it hot prior to operating it. Ours has been used at least 2 loads every day (Beth loves to cook) and it cleans everything, even things that are burned on and I cannot believe it would get clean. You must use a rinse agent for the dishes to dry properly. Ours has a removable top shelf that lets us wash very large items, like pizza pans, roasters, etc... on the bottom rack. You also have to clean out the filter at the bottom of the interior (very easy to do) regularly...
