NHL back on
For better or worse they're back, interesting to see the details.
meh.... should be a couple months before 1/2 the US teams fold :p
Alot of fans didn't care before.... |
Your right, I think alot of fans are fed up. Ticket prices will probably go up to cover all this
foolishness. |
This strike has been kind of funny in Canada, all of a sudden the national sports press has gotten all fired up about the NFL. Don't get me wrong, I watch the occasional NHL game....but hell, it is only entertainment. Can't wait to hear what hype they fill the media with over training camp. Canadian sports junkies need their hockey fix and despite making noises about boycotting to punish the league and players, they'll be back filling arenas across the country ASAP. I guess whoever wins the cup this year will have an asterisk next to their name. Cheers
Hey, they need something to fill air time between the SuperBowl and Sweet 16.
Who Cares
The NHL really screwed up this time. Revenues are going down this year. They are going to lose money and possibly a few teams. Bettman and Fehr screwed up and they know it. Fans just do not care anymore. Let the attrition begin.

pk & Black: there are a few teams that need to go away anyway. The strike just delayed or possibly accelerated (depending who you talk to) the inevitable.
Bettman needs to go away. I think the owners believed him when he promised them the world. He got them everything they asked for last time so they figured he would do it again. I'm fairly sure they are already looking for a rope. I hope he will fall on his sword at the end of the "season". Back to Hockey News: Sid Crosby had corn flakes for breakfast this morning and feels pretty good about it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...leys/pukey.gif |
Go Leafs Go!!
media Toronto are going to go nuts in the next two weeks. |
I absolutely hate hockey but I love hockey-based comedy... go figure...
The Devils have been too expensive for me ever since they moved to Newark. So fk'em.
The US fans seem split 50/50 on the issue. Half are just happy there is going to be hockey at all, and the other guy is more concerned about a refund for his season tickets.
I don't know how much news coverage of the NHL in the U.S. but up here it's the lead story on all the news channels.
The lockout will be forgotton by the middle of Feb. in Canada. |
I was in Canada over the holidays. Not much had changed without hockey.
I'll go to the bar and watch with my buddies, The sports bars deserve to still make their money....No road trip to any NHL city this year, no new team jersey, (although the sporting goods retailer deserves to make a buck too....) And really who knows how often I will even do that, really put off with the NHL right now and enjoying our local WHL team right now.
Players did not strike, they were locked out. Bettman and Fehr are tools.
Instead of a long drawn out season no one watched, maybe we will have a short exciting season that might be worth watching.
I still hope the fans show the same interest in the NHL that the NHL has shown in the fans.
I just dont like the way professional sports team work in north America, the clubs give way to much power to the leagues, this allows the players to form a league union, and bad clubs are allowed to stay in the league.
The players did not strike, they were locked out this is correct. The owners had no choice but to lock them out because "The Fehr" went on strike just before the 1995 World Series when he was in charge of the Baseball Players. He would have done it again in Hockey, so Bettman had no choice. I have a feeling the NHL is going to suffer big time on this. They will not get a dime out of me.
