Pharmacy security guards?

I stopped by the local Rite-Aid last night and noticed they have a security guard in front now. I didn't think much of it but gave him a nod on my way out.

Tonight, wifey needed a prescription picked up at the OTHER pharmacy which is locally owned and THEY have a guard as well.

They are not armed as far as I can tell.

Anyone else notice this trend where you live?

Is there something going on that necessitates having guards?

I wonder if the half crazed crack heads are making runs on the de-congestants to make more of thier poison ?

Pharmacies here have been getting robbed for oxycodone/OxyContin and the like. You would be amazed at the illicit prices on these.
I remember hearing about a few pharmacies no longer carrying these in house.

Walgreens has been using Security Officers for years. Depending on where the store is located, they are off duty cops.
