On-line News?

Generally, my online lunch activities are two fold... navigate to CNN.com for a quick overview for what's happening around the world and then to Pelican (911 to 964 to ForSale to Classifieds to Off Topic)... I need an alternative to CNN. Too many ads, the sports section is now sponsored and I hate the format. Just looking for a basic, not too commercial site. Suggestions?

AP Mobile is a great app for less fluff and more news.

Here's a few I check out (along with google news)

ProPublica
The Global Mail
BBC News - World
ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
AJE - Al Jazeera English
RT

Generally these sites are low on slants and skewed views, though like any media it relies on the individual journalist.

I get daily news from fark.com - at least it comes with funny headlines.

Serious news (when I see something on fark that deserves attention) then csmonitor.com

Bloomberg - Business, Financial & Economic News, Stock Quotes - mostly business
Business & Financial News, Breaking US & International News | Reuters.com
DRUDGE REPORT 2013® - aggregator

I just have a tab set to Google News - I'd like to be able to browse Le Monde in French...

If i'm in the mood for something different, BBC news. Google news is all encompassing and covers the spectrum. AOL seems to only use The Huffington Post.

Otherwise I only trust The Onion.(It is a good read when the day is too long or too intense.)

The Onion is brilliant.
I miss The Chaser.

BBC World News. Great app for the iPhone.

Everyone goes to the net after reading the local newspaper.
I have my favorites and hit 'em all up in the morning.
I take a good look at both sides of the media. It is so corrupt and biased that you have to do this if you want to piece together what is going on local, national and worldly.
The problem I have is that all of it is somewhat depressing. Oh well...

Reuters or BBC. Both have good android apps..
