Oh yeah, post pics! Which airman do you have? I think an Airman 7 might be my next big watch expense

Yep. Really like the Airman. Had a modern version that I parted with along the way...really should have kept it. But I say that about a lot of things (not the lease of which was my 89 Carrera)! Enjoy your Glycine.

that is a very nice piece! I too look for a watch that I can read. all of my watches are chromos and many of them I simply cannot read the sub-dials anymore..they still look great but getting old is not so elegant

congrats on the acquisition and merry Christmas!!

I really really regretted selling my first vintage airman, but I made a few bucks off it....paid $250.....sold for $1k......and prices just kept going up......got a good deal on this one and still paid way more than I sold the last for.....i don't plan on letting this one go. Glycine is definitely one of those lesser known brands that really should be better known. They make a beautiful and superbly functioning watch.

Oooooh, this looks purdy too!Rolex Sky Rocket in Box with tag 1942

This watch has the weight and size I really liked from the minute I first put it on.

My mom gave my dad a Glycine Airman when they got married in 1968. About 20 yrs. ago my dad stopped wearing it, as it cost so much to maintain. It needed constant work and was still not that accurate. I love the newer 46mm ones, but I'd need glasses to read them.

Mine, early 90's Submariner non-date

Dad's old one was an original Tudor Monte Carlo, but now wears a vintage Submariner Date. I miss having the Monte Carlo around.

Brother wears a 50th anniversary Sub (black face, emerald green bezel)

Sounds like it might have been a lemon. If you check out the watchuseek Glycine subforum, the original Airmans tend to be quite accurate and trouble free with the exception of the second hand hack......those have a tendency of breaking somewhere along the way and are kinda pricey to repair. Fortunately, my 'new' airman, just had it replaced with NOS parts and was serviced so it's good for a while.

I've come across a VW version but does anyone have a forgotten Stowa with the Auto-Union for mileage (KM) award? Will consider any style.

For any of you Glycine fans, there are lots of fake vintage ones out there for sale. (well, some).

The Glycine forum at watchuseek often sees them and posts about them. Just gotta be careful. I think there's even one of the members that has a page about how to spot the fakes.

Yeah, the glycine sub forum is a great resource as tons of fake vintage glycines have popped up over the last few years. If you know what you're looking for, they aren't hard to spot, but you do need to know what to look for.

Welll...wife bought me the "holy grail" watch I've been wanting (but not willing to spring for) for years. Brand spankin' new Omega Planet Ocean Liquidmetal Titanium 45mm diver. Makes it worth turning 55. Sort of. Will take a pic or two and attach.
As a result, the Alpina is up for sale. Listed on ebay but a great deal if anyone here is interested.

Here's the box the Alpina came in! That's a Cessna Mustang model. Alpina is the "official" watch of Cessna.

And here's my birthday present from the best wife in the world (not my pic but same watch):

Nice to see all the love for Glycine. I bought my 1953 Vintage Airman this past summer as a gift to myself for a new job. Very happy with it and actually a really good value for a Swiss automatic.
