Finally managed to snap a few pics of the car. Have only had her about 3 weeks. Didn't come with hardtop, but was fortunate to find one within a few hours. Had it painted and really like how it came out.

Having bought it sight-unseen, I have to say I'm pretty happy. Installed a new muffler, replaced a few dash bulbs, and yesterday finished replacing the crappy stock Becker audio system with a Blaupunkt/Polk setup with a small powered sub behind the passenger seat. Really transformed the experience. The Becker is on the shelf for the next owner at some point down the line.

All fluids, belts, etc., are new and the car runs great. I was concerned at first that the transmission might need attention as you can feel it when putting it in D. Had two unrelated mechanics look at it and both said I'm crazy. Flex discs, CV's, u-joints are all good. It pulls strong and shifts smoothly and quietly.

Not a sports car, but my track days are behind me anyway with the first of three starting college. Insurance is reasonable also which is important considering a 16 and 18 year old on my policy.

Anyway....thought I'd share a few pics:

The ride is looking really nice Choc!!
I hope that is the old exhaust hanging down in the first pic.

Are you enjoying driving it ? Good long distance cruiser?

Like the roof!! Does it seal well?

Cheers Richard

The car looks brand new Mike, congratulations. And wise to pull the Becker, not a very good head unit from what I've read on benzworld.org.

I had an 85 380SL back 20 years ago when my wife and I were dating. The 560 has a different feel (or perhaps 25 years of age has something to do with it) than I recall. Very solid and obviously well built. Have only put a couple hundred miles on it so far, but expect to drive it more once the soft top makes an appearance.

Thanks again for the comments. Pics don't show the blemishes but it's in surprisingly good condition for it's age. More than I can say!

Looks great, nice color! It looks a lot better in your driveway than it did on that sales floor.

These cars are built so well it just blows you away. If you've ever had to repair them maybe too well

Thanks for your comments. MB was really designing and building some timeless models in those days. Still miss my 89 300E. Loved that car. Find myself standing in the garage just looking. Haven't had a car with that appeal (at least to my eye) at least since my Carrera left. Drdogface's 49 Chevy was/is a looker (albeit of a different type) also. That one actually turned more heads than anything I've owned.

Charlie...is that you??? Ha! Changed the diff oil as you suggested that same afternoon that we talked. After two days climbing around that car just to replace the sound system, I ache in places I didn't know I have. How you do that every day is beyond me!

Let me know when you an Angie are up for a night out. Cathy's been bugging me to go back to Nami.
