New California Regs
Bumped into a sign contractor the other day at Chipotle. I couldn't believe my eyes:
He was replacing 35 of these: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1360266331.jpg With these: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1360266383.jpg Said the owner of the shopping center was required to update the signs. Unbelievable. |
Next time somebody asks me to explain what's wrong with California, I'll just share this story.
|
I think the problem was that everyone assumed the green sign was sarcastic.
|
the first one is non-reflective.
be glad they dont have Braille dots at the bottom. |
I did a quick google search and couldn't find any relevant regulation to explain the sign change, at least not on the state level.
|
What no fine listed for failure to comply.
|
Tip of the iceberg. I could show you plan check comments I've gotten that make this pale in comparison. I'm all for a better and safer built environment but it really has gotten way, way out of hand regulation-wise. Some municipalities are more understanding than others for sure and focus on bona fide life-safety stuff. Some others are simply well... insane... for lack of a better word.
