Excellent documentary and bought back a lot of memories of my formative years.

Loved the stories of how they came up with song titles/lyrics...Like Glen Frey riding in a corvette at 90+ mph with a drug dealer holding in a major way....when Frey said "WTF?" dealer replied "Life in the fast lane."

A bit of trivia...Tim Schmit played fo Jimmy Buffetts Coral Reefer band for a while during Eagles break and coined the term "Parrotheads" refering to Buffetts fans.

Great Doc, seen part one and going to watch 2 today. They all seemed to make it through the 70's-80's unscathed, even Uncle Joe. I love the line "Joe Walsh is the greatest bunch of guys you could ever meet!".

Randy Meisner looks a bit rough compared to the others I have to say.

Joe Walsh...king of American hotel room trashers.

Loved the story about him and John Belushi out on the town together. A wild night no doubt!

Just looked it up, I guess Randy Meisner is suffering from Alzheimers and dementia and has permanantly retired from music. Seems he was quite the partier on the road.

The Eagles are something of a "garbage can" group, and are related to vultures.

I'm more of a Flying Burrito Bros, Gram Parsons fan, but they brought the music out of the clubs and into the arenas. Definitely made a mark on the "So Cal Sound", as much if not more than The Beach Boys.

After 40 yrs, they must be doing something right.

I think their own remake of Hotel California is the best remake of anything I have ever heard, from anyone.

I don't get Showtime but did catch a couple of extremely informative and interesting documentaries a month or two ago. One was on the Troubadour club scene (early Eagles (no The in front of their name), and lots of other music icon from my youth, and the other was about David Geffen...good docs both of them imo. Eagles were definitely on the soundtrack of my youth...(amongst many, many others)...

odd that Eagles descended from a gliding thing with a string on it...

I never got into the eagles.....and I really like music, live music. Lots of it, but the eagles just never hit the mark for me. (hope you guys enjoyed the show!)

Anybody else here remember NRPS? They were more fun than the Eagles. But I did like the Eagles too.

craigster59 02-18-2013 05:37 PM

Watched Pt. 2 (the corporate years). Frey and Henley definitely got business savvy and were not like the freewheeling "let's just make music" guys at the beginning. Irving Azoff is the typical "Short Guy" manager along with David Geffen. Little effin' Piranhas.

Good documentary all around, although you almost wanted to slap the smug off of Henley's face every now and then. But... he has the chops to back it up.

I saw Henley in concert a couple times, he got on his anti Bush political rant both times, he got booed, then he said, oh, I forgot I'm in Orange County. I don't pay to go see these guys do their political rant, I pay for music.

Only Panama Red hit for them. Talented guys. I mentioned on the "One Hit Wonders" thread about Ozark Mtn Daredevils" another great bluegrass outfit that was respected mostly by their peers. NGDB too

When you posted "NRPS" the first that came to mind was NRBQ, another group that was a HELL of a lot more fun than most bands.
