Opinion on my GTI

I need to buy new summer wheels for my GTI. MY last set of RS4 wheels got demoted to winter duty on my wifes Tiguan. They met with enough curbs that they were starting to look a bit rough. So I know it is still winter, but I figure now is the time to order them. Take a week to get them, then take me a week to get them over to a shop to get them mounted up......middle of March time to put them back on.

So here is my dilema. I have it down to a set of RS3 reps in either Gunmetal or Black with red trim. I know the black ones are a touch on the rice side, but for some reason they are growing on me. The grey/silver ones look fine, but I am afraid I will get bored by them too quickly. Here is a crapy Pchop of both sets on my car. Thoughts? I am leaning black/red, but could be talked the other way.

I do kind of like the red accents.

They kinda grow on you the longer you look at it.

Top I like, bottom is too much IMHO. A thin red line around the perimeter would be more my speed.

I kind of like the red accents. Makes it look like a citroen ds3.

in VW circles, i'm sure that's not really a great thing to aim for.

In VW circles you just try to see how close to the pavement it is. Unfortunately I have to drive my cars to places other than a car show. Still leaning black red though. I think it may change up the look of the car enough to keep me driving it another couple of years.

Top photo - best.
Bottom photo - looks cheap/Tinker Toy/Juvenile.

You asked.

I like the top best, slight gunmetal. I personally think the red accents look a little tacky.

I'm refinishing my gti wheels in a gunmetal later this month, hoping it's going to go well with the white bodywork.

I know what you mean about the VW crowd being as low as possible! I kept mine stock so to have a decent ride for a daily driver.

Cheers
Matt

You could always platidip in order to change styles.

That is a great idea! I could get the grey ones, platidip them and then pull it off when I want to go back to something a bit more conservative. I like that idea.

If it were still 2008, I'd so do the red ones.

That's the funnest idea. Go with the grey and plasti-dip colors onto the wheels. Obviously red looks good, but change it up. I think orange would be a fun accent color or even a bright strong blue.

It's just plasti-dip. Knock yourself out. Change it every couple of months if you feel like it.
