Took it out for the maiden voyage today to a RV park a few miles from home (just in case)

Problems so far: the bedroom slider worked yesterday, today it won't push out, better than not closing.

No sound , but picture on the main TV

The satellite coaxial plug outside doesn’t appear to get enough power for it to find the satellites. Found a work around plugging the cable directly into the receiver.

Problem with the park cable getting a signal for the TVs,

Tracks true and rides very smooth and quiet.

Gas, Diesel is a problem with the emissions control costs in CA compared to other states. Also diesel adds $60,000+ to the cost

Drove it back to the dealer today, we'll see in a few days.

I read that teething pains with new rigs are not unusual. If this dealer is where you have bought both motorhomes, you have probably developed a good relation with them that will hopefully serve in getting these details all sorted out.

It does sound like you are happy with the on the road experence of the new rig.
Does it drive a lot like the smaller one?
Are you having those new appliances installed while its at the dealer?

New buyers on airforums are frequently complaining about issues with their just delivered RVs. The ones that continue to be unhappy feel that their dealers let them down in sorting out the issues in a timely fashion. Some seem so busy that the timely part is the problem, for others the quality of work done at the dealer leaves a lot to be desired.

The high volume of sales in RVs has the manufactures turning them out as fast as they can and quality control seems to suffer. So they rely on the dealers to get the details sorted after delivery.

2nd RV from the same small dealer in Simi Valley, CA, its 35 miles from my house, (easy drive) if you go to the big RV dealers in SoCal, they are in Colton, which is almost 75 miles each way (and terrible traffic), the big dealers suck on after sales service. Jim the owner of Simi RV is a friend of a friend, doesn't mean much, except I can actually talk to him, he's there every day. Since I custom ordered it, Simi RV gets about the same deal as the big boys on price (I think).

Took it in yesterday, and they said they'd call today. If they keep it for a week, I'm fine.

It rides SOOO much better than the old Coachman, with 22.5" tires versus 19.5". Much less noise on the road, and much less drifting in crosswinds, and the fit and finish is superior to the old one.

I expected a few problems, and they're sorting them out.

BTW, dealer extended warranty is around $6,000 for a 7 year bumper-to-bumper with a $100 deductible, if you look around you can get the same extended warranty directly from the same insurance company for about 1/2 that.

I'm planning to take it to Zion National Park the first week of April, if they can fix the bed slide out by then great, as well as the AV electrical issues if not, I'll take it to Zion anyway.

It always just blows my mind how much people pay for a motorhome. I remember back in the early 1980s a friend had a Bluebird motorhome and they paid over a million bucks for it.

My great aunt and uncle loved their road trips. They wore out a few motorhomes. My great uncle finally settled on a big pickup to pull a 5th wheel trailer as his favorite way to see the country.

The bold, above, is the important factor, IMO. Communication, or lack thereof, is generally the conflict instigator when dealing with service departments. All anyone really wants is to be told, truthfully, how long a fix may take. Sounds like you found a winner in the small dealership. My last coach was purchased from a similar dealership--small, family owned, and the service/communication was excellent.

Had to take the new RV back to the dealer for a few issues after only two days of ownership. To their credit, they fixed a few sensors and other minor issues and I can pick it up tomorrow.

I got this custom made cutting board from the guy who bought my old Coachmen, he owns a high-end cabinet shop in south Orange county. He said he wanted to make it and I gave him dimensions.

I think he got a better end of the deal on the sale of my old RV, but I did OK, I sold it to him for about what I owed on it, and it was much better than the dealer would offer me in trade-in.

.Moral of the story, treat people like you'd like to be treated.

Nice looking rig Hugh! We spent a week in Zion last fall in a tent, enjoy it! Such a beautiful place. If you don’t have a space reserved, the Place we camped was an RV park and had nice facilities and was right by a park shuttle stop.

Congrats Hugh! I have been on the hunt for a class A myself to pull our boat for long weekend trips to the lake. Will also use for ski trips with the kids/grandkids. Being a cheap bastard and wanting to stay debt free, I have been looking at older diesel pushers. Probably end up with a late 90's or early 2000's that needs a little tlc for about 30k. I really want a Monaco as their pushers were really well built back then. This is one I have been looking at. Not nearly as good looking/modern as your's, but it is nice inside with real tile flooring.
