Lots of good stuff. I did a google image search for rennsport reunion and told it to only return images larger than 1024x768 and have found a bunch of good stuff. This is a smaller version of one of the good ones.
If you didn't notice, when you click an image (at least for me in Firefox) it's expanding to show a larger version of it. If the version that you see is smaller than you want to use, there is a "More Sizes" link next to the size that will show what other sizes google has found on the net.

If you're using XP, and you've got the Active Desktop on, then maybe instead of the wallpaper, you may be looking at active desktop content.

How to Enable or Disable the Active Desktop

Method 1
To enable the Active Desktop, right-click an empty area on the desktop, point to Active Desktop, and then click View As Web Page to add a check mark.

To disable the Active Desktop, right-click an empty area on the desktop, point to Active Desktop, and then click View As Web Page to clear the check mark.
Method 2

Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
To enable the Active Desktop, click the Web tab, click the "View my Active Desktop as a web page" check box to select it, and then click OK.

To disable the Active Desktop, click the Web tab, click the "View my Active Desktop as a web page" check box to clear it, and then click OK.

Method 3

Double-click My Computer, and then click Folder Options on the View menu.
To enable the Active Desktop, click Web Style on the General tab, and then click OK.

To disable the Active Desktop, click Classic Style on the General tab, and then click OK.

From the Start button, select "Run" and type the following:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Th emes\slideshow.ini

It should open the slideshow.ini file in Notepad, and it should be empty. If not, delete all characters in it, save, and reboot.

Was the slideshow.ini file empty?

BTW, the space in the word "Themes" should not be there

Checked on google and not being able to change your wallpaper seems to be common problem in windows 7. The most interesting problem and solution was caused by a monitor display manager. The person reinstalled the monitor display software (samsung) and was able to change their background. Found that fix on tomshardware.com
