Hertz * Supercars Euro (Dream Cars US)

Anyone have any experience with Hertz Supercars or Hertz Dream Cars?

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, McLaren? Yes, at least in the UK you can rent a McLaren!

For the price of a small film budget you could create your own top gear special at your own house and invite all your friends along.

Hertz just took on a new image with me.

Supercar rentals: Fancy your very own supercar for the day

Get behind the wheel of a XKR-S for a decent price with Hertz Supercars fleet of supercars...

For many petrol heads, the barrier that prevents them from enjoying their passion for supercars is fairly obvious - the cost of actually purchasing one.

Lambos, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Mclarens and Jags all cost a fortune, so how can you get behind the wheel of one?

Up until recently, the only solutions to this problem were to make a rich friend, or go on an organised track day.

Thankfully, with the arrival of Hertz Supercars there is now another option on the table. What's more, you don't have to pretend to be nice to someone rich enough to indulge your passion, or travel for miles to your nearest race track.

The hire car company has brought together a fleet of supercars you can rent by the day, at a price you can afford - well, you might need to save a bit to treat yourself, but it's a fraction of the cost of actually buying one.

We were recently lucky enough to try out a Jaguar XKR-S in the range.

This supercharged cat can hit 60mph in a little over four seconds, and will reach a top speed of 186mph.

To be honest, I was more than a little petrified when picking up the keys to this elegant beast. The XKR-S is the fastest production car Jaguar has ever built, with a menacing look about it and shark-like fins protruding across it's body work it's an intimidating work of engineering art.

Thankfully the guys at Hertz set my nerves at ease, taking me through the car's finer points, and having never driven a car like this before, I really appreciated the advice.

Once you're behind the wheel, you start realize that this car drives like any other and it's actually a pretty easy thing to do - well, if Premier League footballers can manage it, how hard can it be? If you stick to the speed limit and cruise around safely, the Jaguar's just a pussy cat with a rather pleasing purr.

Hertz has a 100-mile day limit for the supercars, so be advised to plan a trip where you can enjoy the best of the UK's roads, and make sure you build in a stop over somewhere that will help you get the most from the mileage. Hunting for the most prominent parking spot is also highly recommended.

If you really want to drive an amazing car like this, then a daily rental is a great way of getting to do it. £370.50 isn't cheap, but it's a treat to remember for any car fan.

Other cars in the Hertz Supercars range might be easier on your wallet, so perhaps you'd like to try out a Porsche Boxster S for £199.50 per day, or a Mercedses CLS Sport for £165.30.

Given the choice though, we'd save for a McLaren M94-12C at £906.30... Better break open that piggy bank!

Visit Hertz Supercars for more details.

Through Hertz... 2 weeks ago I rented a Jag F Type "S" for a week in Frankfurt. Couldn't get it past 250 Kilometers and hour! Made good noise at speed. Nice car. Drove to Porsche and BMW Museums. Great fun!

I can't help but think if you were ever interested in buying one of these it would really be helpful to live with one for a day or two. I would definitely use this service if and when I am ever in the market.

It's either that, or I need to make some more wealthy friends.

I rented a Mercedes SUV from Hertz (Dream Cars) back in September. Walk right to the vehicle, get in and go. They even dropped my son and I back at the terminal when we returned. Almost went for the Challenger but decided on the MBZ instead. You're paying for the privilege so they treat you well.

I wonder what that would do to your credit score? Good/bad/depends?
