That's very sad news. Jim's been and will continue to be missed.

lowyder993s 05-05-2019 04:04 PM

RIP Jimbo! The originator of the Pelican Xmas exchange, right?

I agree. Nothing I can add to that.

Very sad news.
RIP Jim.

Pelican hall of fame, first round.. Great guy and great stories

GWN7 05-05-2019 05:57 PM

He will be missed. I enjoyed his writing. :(

porsche4life 05-05-2019 06:40 PM

So sad to hear this. I had the pleasure of sharing a dinner and a beer with Jim in a Jazz bar in Jackson a few years back. Such a fun guy to be around with so many stories to tell. We exchanged messages on Facebook off and on since his stroke, sounded like he was enjoying playing with with making the SC into a rally rat.

Laneco 05-05-2019 06:53 PM

Aww nuts... One of my favorite Pelicans.

Still have the Cafe Monde mug he gave me (though I personally and without sharing AT ALL drank all the chicory coffee myself).

RIP Jim. You are the one who made NOLA seem worth visiting.

Sad news. How old?

rattlsnak 05-05-2019 08:48 PM

Sux...

Evans, Marv 05-05-2019 08:55 PM

That is very sad news. He hadn't been on here for a long time, but that didn't mean any of us forgot about him. I missed his posts. Sad.

Not sure. I looked for an obituary, but I can稚 find one posted. If I find one I値l share it here.

sc_rufctr 05-05-2019 10:12 PM

RIP Jim.

Rick Lee 05-05-2019 10:15 PM

Very sad news. IIRC, he had had a stroke a few years ago and his posts dropped off a lot after that.

Yep. Sorry to hear of his passing but I think that his health had been in decline for several years, around the time of the stroke reported in this thread. He was a very nice guy. RIP.

onewhippedpuppy 05-06-2019 03:43 AM

He's been missed around here for a while, but that's damn sad news. RIP Jim.

billybek 05-06-2019 05:19 AM

I always enjoyed reading his posts here and his stories.
Sorry to hear of his passing.

KFC911 05-06-2019 05:26 AM

Sid (or anyone else) if there is a way to convey the sentiments of PPOT....please do so to those he left behind....his real world.

He was real here too...dayum....

MBAtarga 05-06-2019 07:16 AM

This news stinks!
I opened the thread expecting another funny story. :(

BRPORSCHE 05-06-2019 07:29 AM

Damn.

LakeCleElum 05-06-2019 07:32 AM

RIP Jim - You were one of the best on here.

I spent the whole evening last night reading some of your old threads....What a Hoot....

Seahawk 05-06-2019 03:12 PM

I bought a dirt bike from Jim over a decade ago...picked it up at his house. We had lunch and dinner and I laughed a lot. He could light a candle and draw you to the flame.

The bike after I put a lot of miles on it:

RIP, Jim, as should we all.

Best.

KFC911 05-06-2019 05:13 PM

Jim wasn't on here that long as I recall....but what a flame he was :)

aigel 05-06-2019 06:08 PM

RIP Jim! You were missed already and now there isn't a chance of a comeback. :(

I知 keeping an eye on his FB page and for an Obit. If I see anything concrete, I値l pass it along.

Bill Douglas 05-06-2019 10:15 PM

RIP Jim. You were smart and lots of fun.

71T Targa 05-07-2019 09:54 AM

Nothing to add except my condolences to his close friends and family.

Tim Hancock 05-07-2019 10:15 AM

Damn.... Hell of a nice guy. Out of the blue, he sent me a care package of stuff for my race car several years back just because he thought maybe I could make use of it... Wouldn't take a dime for any of it including shipping. This news truly sucks.

peppy 05-07-2019 10:23 AM

Sad news. RIP Jim

I've also been looking for an obit to no avail, and since I was the one that informed the group through a mutual friend, I just spoke with him and his take was that there probably won't be an obituary but in the next weeks possibly a "celebration of life" type of announcement/event. He is going to keep me posted.

flatbutt 05-07-2019 05:23 PM

here I was feeling all run down and worn out....now counting my blessings, RIP Jim and thanks for hitting my reset button.
