Sure - want a technical sales rep? Hire a bartender who knows how to wrench, want a good manager? Hire an Army sargent who has seen a few tours. Need a book keeper? Hire a bookie.

my work here is done...

Good observations if I was in need of someone and hiring those parameters would be worthwhile..however, I AM looking for work. Retirement sucks.....

BTW, where's my dry lube?

Ahh, if'n the question be, "how do I get to someone, anyone?" here is one that works.

Get on linkedin, find the company you are interested in, see if there is anyone in your network that can introduce you to that person/persons.

Ask that person if they could help you out and get you the hiring manager/dept heads name. That's all you need.

Then you FedEx your resume directly to the hiring manager/dept head.

Everyone opens a FedEx.

Avoid working thru HR at all costs.

It's a black hole.

I have heard this can work. But personally, I'd be kind of chapped about it if I found an unsolicited resume in a FedEx. I have a remote connection to a job I'm trying to get, but need to wait to hear back from the recruiter before going around her.
