That's an ad for better shot placement and using hollow point ammo. But yes, you should be able to buy any kind of mag you want. I'll never abide by such a stupid law.

I don't know how I'd react under such stress. But it seems to me, if I were just investigating, I'd have a handgun. If I knew gunplay were likely, I'd go for my AR or shotgun. I don't answer my door for unexpected visitors at any time of the day. If I had any kind of weird feeling, which I'd certainly have in this case, where you can see the silhouette through the glass, I'd not even go to the door unarmed. Bedside gun is a .357SIG, whose ballistics easily match those of a .45ACP and I have 15+1 rds. in there.

Scaring off a bad guy is one thing. When they come in the house with a gun and your wife and daughter are behind you, that steps it up a few levels. In most places in the US, that's instant grounds for justified use deadly force. I guess it'd be an easy decision if I were the only thing between bad guy and wife and child. But you know you're in it to win it at that point. No game of chicken or hoping he runs off. It's go time.
