Calling your State and local reps....mini rant....

I needed to discuss some issues with my Mother's local reps as her legal guardian/representative, since she is now older.

The local wanker had a little twerp answering the phone that didn't pick up until 10 AM, I eventually told him to fuchhimmself AFTER I hung up. Waste of breathe and spooey from his dad. Office hours were 8:30 to 4.......little snot bubble.....hope his boyfriend at the fern bar gives a serious rug burn.....

The State Senate rep actually took my information and suggested that MAYBE she would call me back in the next 30 days.

Both are Republicans and my Momz (shut up Sid) has been a voter and registered republican in the area for 50 years.

Maybe I should have her renounce her citizenship.....she'd get get more help...

It's funny that you even thought a legislative representative in California would actually care what an ordinary voting constituent had to say. You have to send a note with a large campaign contribution to get their attention.

I used to be on a first name basis with my Federal representative back a few years back. I even was on scene when her husband was killed on the local highway by a drunk driver.

I guess I am getting old and expecting service from the taxes I have paid over the years. Maybe it IS time to Rage Against the MACHINE.....

If your mom were to fall into a special minority class of citizens, I'm sure they would be more apt to address your concerns. Just let them know Mrs. Joebob-guerrera needs an assist.

I guess you're wanting a rep to call someone at a bureau somewhere to get something done. Reps and the whole of the legislative branch don't provide any solutions or assistance directly.

You should know that. And to get them to pull a favor for you, you have to do a favor for them. Just voting isn't enough.

Paper trail. A phone call does not exist. If you ask for help or complain it has to be a paper trail. Write the letter. They can not ignore a letter because they don't know where it will go.

Making a small campaign contribution ($250 or so per election) goes a long, long way.

My state assemblyman and federal congressman (Wagner and Royce) bend over backwards to help me any time i need it (both republicans).
If I have a problem I request an appointment but it usually gets resolved without the need to meet face to face although they both know me as I've been to their open houses and had dinner with them on at least one occasion.
I'm also on their mailing list and get their updates weekly and correspond at least monthly. In other words I'm not some stranger.

Over the years I've recieved outstanding support from many representatives. First time was from rep Bill Dannemeyer.
I had a problem with an insurance company who didn't want to pay for an operation that was included in the policy. Gave every lame excuse there was. Even THEIR doctor said it was immediately necessary but htey were saying "well maybe after 6 months and some physical therapy ...".
My parents made one call to Bill Dannemeyer's office, 15 minutes later the insurance company was kissing my butt saying I could have whatever I wanted.
He was a good guy.

I've recieved the same positive treatment and support from reps that I did not contribule to also.
It's only common sense.
Have an aide make a phone call, fire off a threatening letter, and you've got a vote for life. Not only that one but also his relatives and everyone within earshot who hears the constituant singing the praises about how this politician helped him out.
That's a whole lot cheaper than advertisements.

Now, feinstein and boxer on the other hand just call the black helicopters when my name is comes up.

Maybe I'm the exception but my personal experience has been just the opposite.

If you made a campaign contribution your name goes on a localized list for that party. That way they know who to contact to obtain the best change of a contribution in the future.

He's just bragging that he is connected. This conversation has some up many times before. I can't get results from the gay c***s that run our city and the local state reps are all graduates of our city government.

In Long Beach, there are about 100 people that run the show. If someone breaks out and gets to state level, they still behave the way they did when they were local. And that means you ain't gettin' no favors until you become one of the lemming supporters.

The situation is so lame that most in the city understand the joke except the ones that are 'supporters.' And it works even better since Long Beach is Black, Asian, Latin and divided into sub groups like the roughly 30,000 Cambodians who are represented by a small group of power brokers. No need for the Cambodian proletariat to get involved when their leaders can do it.

But now, if you were Cambodian and hooked up with the right people, they in turn can get the favors. Not so easy for us Caucasians who make up 29 % of the population and aren't 'special' enough for the gay white, Black and Latin council folk to notice.
