Shaun @ Tru6 06-14-2013 02:03 PM

Quick stop for gas, trip going well so far. Sorry Matt, just a sheep in wolfs clothing, but will be fun project to get it running or part it out.

fastfredracing 06-14-2013 02:55 PM

it was a great trip!!! I love road trips, such good fun with friends. Everything went well, the little Nissan did a heroic job going through the mountains, the car is a bit of mystery, better than expected in many ways. I have to research it a little more. Flares turned out to be steel, has "new" early S front calipers, an early replacement dash, but so early it fits properly and a real 76 Turbo Carrera rear decklid. One disappointment is it only has 7s and 8. So now I have to figure out what to do with it. Light restoration and sell or part it out. Someone put a lot of time and $ into at one point, will depend on the motor more than anything. It also has a "rebuilt salvage" title, so that enters into it too. I suppose I could turn my 73 into a Turbo-look shorthood.

Pics from the trip, a thankfully uneventful adventure.

Diner in NY for lunch. Excellent crab cake sandwich. I had HIGH hopes for a Diners, Drive-ins and Dives trip, sadly, most of the food was good, but nothing show-worthy.

Snacks. The cherry soda was like drinking super sweet nyquil or a liquid form of Bank of America cherry lollipops.

Farmland in West Virginia. Pictures at speed can be a challenge.

I have always taken pictures of bridges, have a ton of them. This was a great bridge.

Car in storage since 1997. I had just moved from Chicago to NYC that year. Ages ago now.

Car on the trailer. The Featherlight rocked!

Stopping to get gas, we found this beauty in PA. Took a ton of pics, one of them will be a shirt design for Spring 14.

Love the chain drive! Any idea on year?

My co-pilot for the trip, made it everything what it was. I wish I could take more trips with more friends. Pic here at a steakhouse in PA.

Cool story, cool find. The car may not be all you were hoping it would be but I'm sure you'll have fun with t anyway. You like wasabi peas too!

mreid 06-16-2013 02:50 PM

Great find, Shaun! If you part it, I'm still looking for a 70-75 dash.

Sounds like a great trip.

Shaun @ Tru6 06-16-2013 03:28 PM

Love wasabi peas! :)

We'll have to talk Mark. A quick scan on pick-up, this one looks to be excellent except for a small crack that the speaker to corner of defrost vent opening, but it's old enough that it it still fits perfectly, unlike the new dashes from Porsche. I was planning on putting it in my 73 but when I figure out what I'm doing with everything, I'll send you an email. Hope you are well.

mreid 06-16-2013 03:51 PM

Thanks, Shaun. I did pick this beauty up a couple of weeks ago. It is a 74, but someone restored it using an 1986 930 complete interior (burgundy) and the rocker extensions, bumpers, doors, deck lid and tail from the same car. It was a great price, so I picked it up and it is heading for 74 RSR IROC status.

Good luck with your new adventure! Damn, I love a good road trip!

herr_oberst 06-16-2013 04:51 PM

Road trips! Man, I got jittery just looking at the selection of road drinks.

Love the Mack truck. Chain drive, right out there in the breeze, no modesty, no regrets!

LOL!! If those are the plastic Vitaloni Tornado's, I WANT THEM!! I have the plastic Vitaloni Turbo's now, and they don't look right with the rubber accordion. I like the Vitaloni plastic flags because they are super light!!
