Seems like a way to guarantee getting a ticket.

A lot of the tips are in regards to avoiding having the cop have cause to search your vehicle or test you for sobriety. I guess if you are driving drunk this might come in handy, but I'd rather have the drunk driver off the road.

so would I

BUT... in Oregon a cop can claim you are "impaired" no matter what your blood alcohol level measures and you will then find yourself in a work camp diversion program (IF you are lucky)

Yeah, that's the left coast for ya.

Work diversion program...sounds sinister!

This is great advice...on paper.

But the truth of the matter is that the person that needs this advice is not going to be in any condition to properly and respectfully execute the plan.

The idea is to force the officer to make a probable cause determination based only on how he observed you operating a vehicle. Why give him/her any additional data? What good could come of that?

The odds of you talking your way into something are far far greater than you talking your way out of something.

What an idiot! Based on another video, looks like he goes looking to get stopped.

An easy way to avoid this is to stay in your back yard, spark one up over a nice glass as your dogs sleep and you dream...

Much to be said for delving into your own wisdom. Believe it enough and it never lets you down. Delusional yes but you'll save money and frustration...

I tried this once at a drunk driving check stop. I had not been drinking.

I wound up really pissing off the cop and getting a ticket for no front plate... Was it worth it?

I got stopped in the Boxster two nights ago, 55 in a 45, the girlfriend and I were chatting away and I just didn't realize my speed crept up.

Real friendly officer from the git go, I was ultra polite and said "good evening, how's it going" when he approached my door. Hands on the wheel, motor off. When he told me about my speed and asked if there was any reason I was speeding, I just shrugged and said 'eh, no excuse"

He came back a minute later with my license, thanked me several times for my honesty, we joked around for a minute, and he let me go with a warning. Just be polite and make it a pleasant experience for them, and often times they'll return the favor.

Sorry, I don't think being a dick to someone doing a very difficult job is in any way a positive. 99% of them are good guys. Let's face facts here, while we like to complain about tickets the bottom line is that we are breaking the law, pretty stupid to get indignant when you happen to get caught. Be professional and curtious, which hopefully doesn't take extra effort. How many of you face the very real chance of being shot every day when you go to work?

Odd, every time I have had contact with the police, I have been respectful and tried to make their job easier and safer. I've got a few well deserved tickets over the years, but I've also gotten out of way more by simply being respectful.

Sitting on the side of the highway with traffic roaring by...thats where his guy works. Your standing in his office. If I barged into your office and started ranting about how much you suck, would you give me a warm welcome?

Sorry, I'm as libertarian as they come, but I think peoples anti cop rants are juvenile at best.

Last week I was stopped twice.
I rolled the window down all the way both times.
No tickets.

My take-away from this jerk's video and others like it is..... know your rights and what cops CAN do if you give them the opportunity.

Asset forfeiture provides easy money for police departments and it doesn't take much for a cop to decide that your money or property was obtained illegally thus subject to forfeiture.

Also there are many parts of the country where law enforcement is very aggressive in searching for any reason to write you up or haul you in.

You never know the mind set of the guy who pulls you over.

The powers that police have are actually very limited. Don't give them more than they have.

Sure most cops are basically good people. And you should always be polite. But if they pull you over for one thing don't let them look for anything else.

Best advice a cop ever gave me.... "Never trust a cop."

Let azzwipes like that guy get the tickets, so that those of us who are polite and respectful can continue to go ticket free.
