I remember the incident maybe 15 years ago where two kids were arrested after they "went alligator fishing" with kittens as bait. That was in Florida as well. I grew up in Florida so I'm not going to demonize the whole state based on the actions of one screwed up kid.

I also grew up in Florida and there are all types there. It's hard to condemn a whole state because of pockets of malcontents. My experience on the Gulf coast was really very positive.

I am not sure about the serial killer linkage, but studies are pretty clear that many child abusers start out by abusing animals.

The authorities can catch it now, or we can all pay a lot more later on.

I still remember a section of a Stephen King book where puppies were drowned in a toilet. Must've been 20+ years ago that I read it. Haven't read King since. Just too disturbing a concept and is one of two concepts that can simply never be entertainment to me (other being hurting children) no matter what light it is portrayed in.
