Ship parts to Spain?
any one use a freight consolidation service to send bulky items to Mallorca Spain? We have a client looking to buy a roll bar and its too large for standard Fed Ex Service
Thanks in advance for referrals

Have you tried to contact an airline freight department directly. Sometimes it is amazing what you can ship with them by dropping the item off at theit freight terminal at the airport, and the cost can be quite reasonable.

That reminds me, I got a 964 decklid complete hand carried by the flight crew on a smaller commuter airline. I think I'd call someone like Connie Kallita's Kallita Air before calling DHL. Maybe if you told them the roll bar was for a crag car they'd give you the good guy discount.
But, do come back with the final decision as this will be a good thread for the archives. |

I would imagine the total cost would be a lot higher than getting one made in Spain? I sold an 1970s Italian steering wheel that was on my 73 914 originally and it was sent by UPS and their website had all the necessary forms and paperwork needed to ship to a "foreign" country. What a mess, the Canadian customs called me and wanted to know if I had paid customs on the steering when I brought it in the country? I said it had been through three previous owners and ALL were dead and the lady on the phone hadn't even been born when it was made so we let it die.
Anyways, try Wayne Baker to see if he can help as I know he has shipped race cars over for customers to France and other countries. |

Another though: How about giving Rinkes International a call. They do a lot of container car shipping to Europe. It should be easy to fit a car part into one of their loaded containers. They have an office on Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association << THIS is the listing of all the air cargo companies working out of LAX
Next is checking which airlines go to a specific city/airport ; then call to get quotes interesting to note that Fed Ex will not service various locations when the package is over sized
